Are you familiar with CHAMPVA?

The Civilian Health and Medical Department of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA) is a comprehensive healthcare program for qualifying dependents (spouse, widower, widower, children).

We know how complicated navigating the healthcare system can be, so we're going LIVE Wednesday at 11 AM CST to bring you the facts about CHAMPVA.

I highly recommend enrolling your ChampVa family in the VA's CITI program. This will place them in the VA facility system. They can then get their care through the VA itself - hospitals and outpatient clinics. My wife and I share the same VA primary care physician (I am a veteran, she is not). She gets care through the same VA facilties that I do - including specialty care. She doesn't stand in the back of the line with Vets to get care. She gets next available appointments, same as I. And... it is at zero out of pocket cost, unlike going to a civilian provider where the Co-pays kick in. ER visits, primary care, specialty care, surgery, meds... whatever she needs, she gets through the VA itself. I highly encourage all ChampVa eligible families to enroll in the CITI program. With kids, they have to wait until they are 18 to get care through the CITI program. Prior to that, your kids have to get civilian provider care and use ChampVa itself. Even with that, we have never had a problem finding a provider. If they take medicare, they should take ChampVa.

HI GUYS. I served in Panama 1967 to 1969. I have symptoms of similar to Agent Orange. I often wondered what was used as a defoliant on the firing range, fence line around the Base, along both sides of the Canal and the lakes.

Greetings, the wife & I are Navy vets, both 100% p&t and I work. Because we use champVA (with no other coverage), am I eligible or ineligible to setup a health savings account through my employer (fed gov)? Much appreciated!

100 disabled and i cant find a provider that takes it in Puertorico. I was told by my providers to learn how to file the claim myself. The VA told me im better off buying an expensive policy for them. Its what it is, but it kind a feels like a slap in the face.

Navy 26 years currently living in VA. Curious, I’m 100 percent P&T am currently on Medicare with TriCare for life. Also receive the annual tax info that I have Champva. Am I required to use the VA Insurance instead of Medicare/TriCare for life.

Hello: I have a question? When you get your bill from VACI & you decide to get the 10% disc & payoff immediately - Is that tax deductible?

Is it necessary for a Veteran with a 100% P&T rating to continue maintaining private insurance through their employer to cover their family's needs once they are accepted for CHAMPVA benefits?

I have champ va due to ‘y spouse who is a 100% disabled veteran. Im having some problems with the drs offices as they say they dont take ‘y insurance and i need to go to the va clinic! They do not know about champva and that it isnt actuallt va…the name va throughs them off so ive had to argue and pull up info to the pharmacists at Walgreens for instance…and its darn near every time I go there.. .i have another first payer insurance that we purchase for hundreds a month so champva is secondary but try to get the dr offices to send info to my second insurance the amout not covered by my first is basically like pulling teeth and not happening….i called champ va and they said they wouldnt even have a couple of these bills i have in their system yet as they are months behind….. so the bill just goes unpaid and my credit goes down the tube? I dont know what to do.
