This Video will talk about 3 of my top 100% P&T VA Disability Compensation Spouse and Dependent Benefits.
Are you the spouse or surviving spouse of—or a child of—a Veteran with disabilities or a Veteran who has died? If you don’t qualify for TRICARE (the Department of Defense’s health care program for active-duty and retired service members and their families), you may be able to get health insurance through the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA). Through this program, we cover the cost of some of your health care services and supplies. This is called cost sharing. Find out if you qualify for CHAMPVA and how to apply.

VA education benefits for survivors and dependents
Find out if you’re eligible for VA education benefits for dependents and survivors (also called Chapter 35 benefits). If you’re a dependent spouse or child—or the surviving spouse or child—of a Veteran, you may qualify for Chapter 35 benefits or job training through a GI Bill program.

About VA DIC for spouses, dependents, and parents
If you’re the surviving spouse, child, or parent of a service member who died in the line of duty, or the survivor of a Veteran who died from a service-related injury or illness, you may be able to get a tax-free monetary benefit called VA Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (VA DIC). Find out if you can get VA benefits or compensation.

An advanced discussion on how the DIC works would be benficial

The DIC benefit normally is about half of the monthly compensation that the veteran receives. So if the vet receives 3000. Pre month the DIC is about 1500. Also make sure that when the death certificate is filled out on it says death may have been do to veterans disability. That way the surviving spouse does not have to resubmit a corrected death certificate because that will take time to process with the VA which can takes months.

When submitting Champva claims:
1-Write down the # of claims being submitted
2-ALL dates of services (a claim status can only be obtained with a specific date)
3-Complete a VA Form 10-7959a for EACH provider submitted
4-Attach an Explanation Of Benefits to each claim (if you have other insurance) AND an Itemized Billing Statement in a CMS-1500 or UB-04 form depending on the service (obtained from the Medical Release Records Dept.)

**Champva failed to mention this information to me and I was informed of everything after submission, causing a major delay. If all info is submitted correctly, refund/payment could be received in 3-6 months**

My husband was 100% disabled and died on April 6, 2022. I have been fighting with the VA to get a pension since his death. He was a VietNam vet and flew in and out of Viet Nam many times. He had several conditions that were Agent Orange Presumptive conditions. However they listed Renal Cancer as the only cause of death. They have rejected my claim. His primary care doctor wrote a letter to the VA attesting to several different conditions which he feels contributed to his death. I sent all the information with the letter and have heard nothing from them but a letter stating that they received my information.

I am at my witt's end as I am facing the loss of my home soon. I am presently living on less than $20, 000 dollars a year which has been horrendous. This is what I get for his serving his country as an Air Force Reservist for 38 years and I can tell numerous times when the Reserves have put our family through Hell. Is there something that I am missing that I should be doing? Thanks, Mary Noonan

Some areas accept spouse to be seen for medical AT the VA, with no added costs. My wife is included in that benefit thru Lebanon, PA VA network

Thank you for the great veteran info, I really appreciate it and I always share with other veterans:-)! Wondering specifically if you could speak more to the current legislation aiming to reduce the DIC time frame for 100% permanent and total. Thank you:-)!
