I was lucky enough to see Hamilton, and during this song Hamilton is crying a little, but he's holding himself together, but aftER Eliza TAKES HIS HAND AND IS LIKE: "It's quiet uptown..." HE JUST BREAKS AND HE WAS CRYING AND I WAS CRYING AND EVERYONE WAS CRYING

As a parent who recently lost my 20 year son in a car crash, this song truly gets to the emptiness and pain of losing a child. It is truly unimaginable. Seeing the pain my wife is in "if I could spare his life; If I could trade his life for mine; he'd be standing here right now" is a sentiment I feel everyday. I was at the scene of the crash and pulled my son from the wreck and he died in my arms.I would have given anything to have traded places with him.

Eliza is the main in the song, yet she barely sings. I love her underlying presence through it all

When I saw this live almost all of them were crying on stage and when Lin sang that "Look around, look around, Eliza." his voice cracked on Eliza because he was crying and I burst out in tears.

honestly this is my favorite part of the whole musical. the moment when eliza takes alexander's hand and then the ensemble singing "forgiveness, can you imagine?" which just makes me love eliza even more. i seriously hope i'd get the chance to play eliza someday 😂 she's just a wonderful character!!!
