I’m 50, and I’ve always been deep in the underground music scene—the kind that didn’t really care about big record labels and had the freedom to do their own thing, usually with a progressive vibe. But after the late '90s and into the mid-2000s, that scene started to lose steam. A lot of it had to do with the rise of the internet, the end of MTV as we knew it, streaming, social media, and the rise of the far-right globally, among other things.
But then I came across Aurora (thanks to the Chemical Brothers), and she’s a rare, much-needed exception these days. It’s awesome to see young voices stepping up again to fight back against the dark times ahead.

I'm from Chile, a country at the end of the world. I've been a music lover my whole life (I'm 58 yo), but I thought those days of being truly moved by an artist were behind me. Then I found AURORA. Her music has been a breath of fresh air. I never expected to find an artist who could connect with me on such a deep level. This video made by her fans is incredibly moving.
