Loosing everything, even the memories, is one thing. Not having a job to return to, is there a name for that?

Of course they will rebuild but it’s not going to happen soon. The township still needs assistance.

As big as this disaster is, why on earth does the news show three pictures over and over again instead of showing so much available content. Thankful there will be a new Chimney Rock, a new Flower Bridge❤❤❤❤ #chimneyrockstrong

As bad as it is in West NC. Florida still has 1 million out of power and many counties with rising flood water from the storms. Some still waist deep in water from flooded rivers expected to continue to flood for 2 more weeks with no outlet for the water to flow. Florida builds on a swamp, NC builds in a bowl at the base of mountains. Really consider building in non flood areas. I was in Asheville 10 days prior to the storm looking at buying property and it was just too scary thinking of being washed away, I left without looking at houses, it looked too doomsday.

I understand all the work that needs to be done, but what about the families that are now homeless? Are they being housed or helped financially? Where are they?

"We couldn't imagine this happening in the first place" while standing at the bottom of a gorge that was cut into the rock by that river.

It's 100% going to happen again, your town is at the bottom of the only drain for a mountain range.

There are places where Hurricane Sandy hit in 2012 and still hasn't fully recovered. Unlikely Chimney Rock won't either. These areas severe effected by Hurricane Helene will never be the same again.

Why has this storm had such minimal national news coverage? You see alot of local coverage but very little National news coverage. And where the hell is FEMA!!

Insurance will not pay for rebuilding. If it actually does, your insurance will be outrageous and won’t be affordable. Good luck with that.

Rebuilding seems foolish to me. Don't really have ground to rebuild on.

I think its cheaper just to relocate these people. It sucks but the cost to rebuild is restrictive. The chances that this may happen again are to great.

Why weren’t broken flood gauges replaced? Why weren’t there warnings when dams broke?

"Edom may say, “Though we have been crushed, we will rebuild the ruins.” But this is what the LORD Almighty says: “They may build, but I will demolish. They will be called the Wicked Land, a people always under the wrath of the LORD."
