FAQ Session on Mini MBA in HRM
What is the difference between On-the-job training and Internship?
Speaker:- Prof. Alka Jain (Ph.D)

On-the-job training ( OJT ) is a practical approach to acquiring new competencies and skills needed for a job in a real, or close to real, working environment.
Internship, on the other hand, is designed to gain practical experience than learning new skills. Its focus is to test theoretical knowledge learned in realistic settings.

An internship gives the practical application of theoretical knowledge whereas good training helps in improving the employee's performance. Internship works as a gateway to getting a permanent job, training helps you climb up the corporate ladder in your current job.

Can a student apply for on job training directly without going for internship or internship is a prerequisite for ojt? OJT is a job or it is also a type of training for students before they join an organisation as employee?
