The guy who played Knightley in the new Emma movie (Johnny Flynn) is the same age as Knightley, 37 years - I love that people think he is too young, but he is actually the exact same age

emma 2020 is so far my fave because i feel like they captured the humor of the book! the only thing i didnt like was emma being mean so upfront compared to the gwenyth's emma. and i also like how effeminate mr knightley is. btw!! the actor who played mr knightley is actually 37 which is the age of mr knighley in the book

The new 2020 Emma is my absolute favorite Jane Austen adaption of all! This Knightley is my fave too. He’s exactly the age as well I thought? He’s 37. I think the comedic timing was so on point and clever. Felt like Austen wrote the screenplay herself

Ohhhh I loved the new Emma. Loved how all the characters leaned into their weirdness. The Gwenyth version kind of annoys me.

I love the Northanger Abbey film, but it's time for the high budget, stylized remake that it deserves!

Sanditon ripped my heart out and threw it off the wall in Lyme

I thought the Lizzie Bennett Diaries was brilliant. The format was unique and it manages to update the characters while also respecting Jane's work(this is especially true for Lydia's arc). It's the single best Austen adaptation in my book and I reccomend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle’s Pride and Prejudice, Sally Hawkins and Rupert Penry-Jones Persuasion, Felicity Jones and JJ Feild’s Northanger Abbey and Emma Thompson and Hugh Grant’s Sense and Sensibility. Unfortunately Colin Firth was just SO dreamy as Mr Darcy that Matthew Macfadyen couldn’t live up to that role for me. I also watched the latest film adaptation of Emma and I simply could not bring myself to finish it. I wasn’t impressed by it at all and much prefer the Mark Strong and Kate Beckinsale variant. Theo James in Sanditon, LOVE!

I absolutely adored the new Emma adaptation, this hurts 😩 I think it’s right next to the 1995 Pride and Prejudice as my top favorites

1995 “Persuasion” in which Ciarnan Hinds WAS Wentworth and Emma Root WAS Anne!
1980 miniseries “Pride & Prejudice” in which Elizabeth Garvie IS and will always BE my Elizabeth Bennett!
In fact, it is really too bad that a biography of Jane Austen was not done then, as Ms. Garvie would have been the Perfect Jane!

There’s also Bride and Prejudice, as well as From Prada to Nada (a really surprisingly good retelling of Sense and Sensibility).

I’m so happy you loved Sanditon! I went into it knowing nothing, and I didn’t love the first episode but I was hooked after the second! I desperately want another season!

If your looking for a modern adaptation take on pride and prejudice there is a movie called lost in Austin about a young woman in modern times who loves jane Austin and finds herself having traveled to that time period. It is a mini series and I loved it. So if you have not tried that you always could if you wanted.

I just can't agree with you on the 2020 Emma or the BBC P&P, sorry. I understand your opinions, but honestly I think those two were cast incredibly well. That P&P is truest to the book and I felt the emotion was played really well. I think some people were disappointed by not seeing as much affection between couples, but you just wouldn't have behaved like that in the Regency era. Also I find the other characters like Mr Collins, Mrs Bennet, Mr Bennett and Mrs Gardener hilarious.
As for Emma 2020 I think it's great to see a protagonist that you actually question. She doesn't appear perfect and always correct, she is often clearly in the wrong and dislikable, but that makes her relationship with Me Knightly and attempts to make up for her behaviour even more endearing :)

How did you not like the Lizzie Bennet Diaries?!!! I loved the way it was shot and the cast completely blew my mind for an early YouTube show. It was suspenseful waiting week by week to see what happened even though we all already knew. And the wait to see everyone was the best part! The minute we were given Bing Lee and wickham and By the Lord Darcy. It was soooo much fun! 😞

Sanditon is truly a treasure. I loved this TV series. Amazing Cast, an unexpected Austen hero and strong capable heroine. Best dance scene I ever watched. Just magical.

Finally norhthanger abbey getting the love it deserves! Also, I do highly recommended rereading persuasion-I got into Jane Austen later in life and persuasion is by far my favorite because I feel the emotions in it are really relevant to a more mature reader. Overall, while I don’t agree with all the rankings per say, I respect all the points you made! ❤️
