Thank you for making your videos relatively short so that I can learn in small chunks.
I am learning now. I found Medicare complicated.
I work at keeping myself healthy so that I do not have to deal with it much.
I am OEG, Original Equipment God. My thought is, God knows best.

I'm so glad I subscribe to your channel, Sir. We went into the meeting with our insurance agent knowing I didn't want a Medicare dis-advantage plan. Luckily, like you she's an ethical person & doesn't even sell them. But I was surprised at how much Part B, Part D, & a supplement costs! All I can say is I can see why old peop!e get jobs as greeters at Wal-Mart.

Thank you for the valuable info! This should be a mandated course for anyone close to retirement!

Sounds like they penalize you for having income, ridiculous.

What is NOT fair is that the "bracket" cut-offs for singles is only 50% of that for Joint filers, except for the very top bracket!! It does NOT take a married couple twice as much to have the same standard of living as a single person. The biggest discrepancy is owning a house. The joint couple has, essentially, the same cost to have the same house as a single person. So if they want to make the cutoff for the first IRMAA bracket $182, 000 for a couple, something closer to 2/3 (or roughly $121, 000) for a single person would represent treating both segments equally in terms of cost of living before they start to pay a premium. Ironically, the cut-offs for that top bracket DO show a single number that is 2/3 of the joint.

I am hit with IIRMA surcharges since I am still working. The strange thing is that even with these charges Medicare is cheaper than my previous insurance and I can go to any provider.

It was my understanding the returns on investments and lottery earnings didn't have any effect on SS and medicare. Can you clarify this for me please.

Absolutely outstanding video. Knowing I need to file an IRMAA appeal form will hopefully save me a bundle.

The government will soon be taking all your money as incomes increase simply because of inflation year in and year out and soon very few will fall below the income levels needed for relief simply because they do not increase beyond the levels set when laws were enacted. Those minimum income levels should be raised yearly also in accordance with the yearly COLA numbers….but we know that will not happen.

So, someone who has income from 401K, IRA, pension and social security -- this is all considered income?

What's sad is Obama care was supposed to lower the cost of insurance for us before we qualify for Medicare. I can't afford these ridiculous insurance premiums and stupid high deductibles and am hoping to make it to 65 before any major health issues. It's cheaper for me to pay out of pocket for minor stuff than to have insurance.

Payroll taxes only cover part A of medicare. Of the total cost about 35% is covered by payroll taxes, 16% by premiums and 49% by just general tax revenue. Almost 75% of part B is paid by general tax revenue. So the medicare taxes you paid during your working life don’t begin to cover the costs medicare will incur after after you hit 65.

Nowadays, there is this “full concierge physician “ that asks for seniors with high annual premium of $3000 membership fee . This is just a membership fee to be seen right away like a VIP. You still have to pay for your copay, coinsurance.
Imagine having high Medicare B premium due to IRMAA plus paying for medigap and this concierge membership fee.
This full concierge physician membership will discriminate the non members retirees who have limited income.
How does this affect the original Medicare patient when they try to be seen by these doctors? Will they get discriminated whey are not concierge physician members?
I am a concerned senior citizen.

What is the best time to give you a call I need to set up part B and then and the Supplemental Plans

One of the "gotchas" is the RMD that elevates your MAGI if you have traditional pre-tax IRA funds when you reach the age to withdrawal the necessary amount which adds to your income. That can throw your Medicare Part B premium into a new bracket.

Can you use the employer insurance as a supplement plan G when you register for A and B?
Thanks.
