Energy-saving fiberglass insulation can be a nightmare when pests get into it. We found a better way to & cleanly & quickly remove old, soiled fiberglass insulation using new technology. Most people would have moved after seeing this! Now our attic & crawlspace can be ready for sanitizing & finishing. The is the first DIY project that I couldn't do and needed help.

Owning a remediation company, I've taken out a TON of insulation over the years, and I never knew about this machine! It would have saved me so much on labor! Strongly recommend looking into encapsulating your crawlspace next, now that you've got it all cleaned out.

1) You seem to have inherited alot of problems from the previous owners ! 2) You are doing a pretty awesome job fixing these problems and sharing your successes and failures with us along the way . I'm sure you'll run out of things to fix eventually

Great video. I had a quote on my house for the same vacuum cleaning & blown cellulose. A few pointers: cellulose settles over time reducing R Factor (permanent measurement stick helps maintain R-30), inspect air vent baffles condition in the attic, unclugged vented soffits are vital for proper air circulation through the attic & exit), if you have ceiling lights perhaps install a pot over the exposed light fixture body & seal it with caulking to prevent room air leakage (probable good time to inspect all your HVAC air handler insulated flexible ducts). These are just a few points as I can recall from the quote.

The purpose with our home was more with energy efficiency rather than rodents even though we have had both rats & squirrels. Apparently, rats can climb up down spouts, jump from trees & squeeze through 25 cent sized holes.

Additionally, I am sure you'll see energy savings with a more efficient attic, nice bonus & payback!

P. S. By chance, did you source the location from where the mice entered the attic? It's one thing to refurbish the attic it's another to find & plug holes. Maybe the entrence was found while doing the attic.

Chris - I learn so much from your videos. In fact, I went back and watched an older video about your use of Tenacity to kill weeds just yesterday to refresh my memory about how much surfactant to us. I want you to know that I really appreciate all that you do. Thank you!

Honestly $2k for that removal is pretty reasonable. Not cheap, but definitely beats the opportunity cost of doing it yourself

Wow I bet realtors would love this video too as they help clients with situations like this. Can you do a follow up video on the yard and how to oversee grass? My husband and I have been following for almost a year now and we are working on getting weeds out and more grass to grow. We would like to know when to do what if we are planning to overseed again this September. We have so many weeds! We kill them and they are back within a few weeks.

I do love the fact that anything you need to do in the USA can be done by the application of bigger machines. Here in Australia we are so behind in the implementation of household technologies.

Excellent commentary on a service that I didn't know existed. Seems like a great labor saver.

I need that!! Did half of my area with contractor bags (old mice crp etc) but never again.

Yah, I think you made the right call. It's all fun and games until you have airborne E. Hanta in your living space. That kind of remediation is best handled with the right equipment and experience.

100% Correct call on that Job. I am surprised a SIP house had leaks large enough to allow pests in or needed extra insulation.

Another GREAT video and share! As housing stock across the country gets older, this kind of service will no doubt get more and more popular.

This explains why a random insulation machines trailer review popped into my feed. The algorithm works in crazy ways

I hope you go with closed cell foam, especially in the crawl space. Best decision I ever made as it pays for itself in performance and noise reduction. If you don’t do that, go with rock wool bats.

Some jobs are just worth paying for. I used to only pay for under the sink type plumbing. In the past 2 years I paid to have my fence replaced, I had the attic and walls of my house filled with insulation. The money I'm saving in medical copays almost make it a wash.
