JBL Boombox 2 vs. UE Hyperboom

We know JBL's second-gen portable party speaker brings the bass but how does it stack up against Ultimate Ears' new Hyperboom? This is the heavyweight championship of portable Bluetooth speakers and someone's gotta win.

They both sound really good.
The JBL gets a lot louder.

Bueno chicos, se que muchos al igual que yo se preguntarán UE HYPERBOOM O JBL BOOMBOX 2?, La respuesta es, que si te puedes dar el lujo de tener ambas, excelente. Ya que ambas bocinas son Excelentes pero diferentes, La UE HYPERBOOM tiene bajos mas acentuados y un sonido mas fuerte que la JBL, Sin embargo, son upper bass, ( bajos secos) Si buscas un bajo PROFUNDO (lower bass) y envolvente te recomiendo mejor JBL BOOMBOX 2. aunque su sonido es un poco menor en espacios abiertos y al subirle el volumen al maximo pierdes definición en medios y altos.
He probado sonidos como el Trival, circuit, rock, pop, y me da ganas de tirar la JBL BOOMBOX 2 Por la ventana ya que esta ultima no tiene buenos medios y altos. pero también he escuchado SALSA, BANDA, REGGAETON y quiero tirar la UE HYPERBOOM porque aunque esta tiene bajos super profundos (al mismo grado, incluso mas que la JBL ), me envuelven más los de la JBL porque son LOWER.

Por eso concluyo que ambas son excelentes, pero depende mucho para que las quieras, si la usas para fiestas en tu balcón, o presumirle a tus amigos, les recomiendo la Hyperboom ya que su sonido es super potente en especios abiertos, si la quieres llevar a la piscina, o a la playa la Boombox 2.

y si tienes lana para comprarte ambas Excelente, me encantan ambas. Siempre podrás impresionar a tus amigos y a ti mismo con el super sonido que dan ambas.

To all the people who came here with a question "What speaker should I get? Boombox or Hyperboom?" :

Man I've been thinking between those speakers since March 2021. Now is June, and I finally bought Hyperboom. Here is my advice:
Go with the hyperboom. It's amazing. The app from UE is wonderful, works without lags. You can change anything you want, turn the speaker on and off from the app directly, switch between bluetooth devices in seconds. It will take 20 seconds for you to open up the app, turn the speaker on, connect to it, and start jamming. Only 20 seconds.
This beast charges to 100% in 3 hours. And the bass is wall shaking.
F***ing amazing.
Definitely worth all the money. It's really both a home speaker and a party machine. I never put it higher than 70% at home because it becomes ovewhelmingly loud and bassy.
I'm one of those people who tries to find lags in every possible system or app - by pressing all the buttons and going through all possible settings. So far, I've found zero
The only only minus - absence of USB-C port. But it's manageable.
Just go with it man!

I agree UE hyperboom is a lot better than the JBL boombox... coz i have them both and from my judgement UE is better.

I had got the UE hyperboom and it was nice and punchy but I ended up returning it and getting a squad color boombox 2. absolutely love it

I ordered both and wil keep one. The Boombox is here since yesterday and yes, it’s ok, the bass is fine but the highs aren’t too sharp sometimes it’s like the speaker is covered by a thin blanket, gets pretty loud and keeps stable tho. The Hyperboom will arrive in two days. From what I’ve heard and read so far the sound quality of the Hyperboom shall be clearer and the base goes deeper and punchier plus it gets 10 db louder. Am pretty hyped about the Hyperboom even if i only get it in 2 days 😅.

The water resistance is preferred by many who have pools and such. You can literally let the JBL play in the pool without a care in the world.

I bought a JBL Xtreme 2 and wasn’t impressed, so I got the UE Hyperboom and now I’m not sure if I should return the JBL or just throw it in the trash to save the next schmuck!

Unfortunately, in Brazil, we didn't have access to Hyperboom, and I guess it really has performed better than the BB2. ANd how about with Classical music? Rock?

Great concise review and detailed; trust CNET. I would easily go with UE especially if it were better IP rated (concerned if left out in the rain by chance). What do you think. I also wish the UE had extra ports like Sony’s XG500 (mic, usb stick).
