BB2:
-good lower bass
-directional sound
-limiting issues at high volumes making it struggle with heavy tracks (similar with Xtreme 2)

HPB:
-wider, room filling sound due to its drivers lay-out
-retains more upper bass at high volumes so its more punchy
-boxy sound

I preferred the overall sound of the hyperboom but I do like how deep the boom box 2 gets.

I appreciate the fact that you actually compared the speakers on different music genres. Every reviewer seems to play mostly electronic samples with no vocals! I thought the Hyperboom had the best vocal sound and I'm sure with it's full equalization capability, it can be dialed in to one's perfect sound.

That JBL really digs deep down low. Wow! But that clarity with vocals for the UE! I think the JBL for that depth.

You can really tell the difference when you use earphones and I personally like the boombox better

The boombox 2 goes a tab deeper than the Hyperboom in terms of bass.

I have a hyperboom at workand boombox 2 at home. To be honest I have to agree with cNet and Gymcaddy I much prefer the hyperboom both for battery life, form factor, robustness and sound.

Still! to this day 5-21-2022, I was at a flea market in Florida where The JBL Boombox 2 and the HYPERBOOM both were there. I demonstrated by playing Pink Floyd's "Us and Them." AGAIN! the JBL Boombox 2 out performed the Deep Deep bass that the HYPERBOOM could not produce. HYPERBOOM can produce a lot of bass but with a boomy bass where the Boombox 2 can go to lower bass frequencies. If I want a warm, natural sound, you can get that from much cheaper less quality speakers. I paid for Agressive Attacking variable frequency sound. JBL Boombox 2 is well worth it! Along with deeper bass, I want to hear crispy crashing symbols and pronunciations where you can even hear an artist sniffle in a recording. You must try Elite, In Studio musician artists like Sting, Pink Floyd or Steely Dan. JBL Boombox 2 is hands down "The Winner" there. Hip Hop R&B or Club Music generally sounds good even comparible in most speakers.
