Why didn’t we switch over to metric during Covid? Would have been the perfect time.

Le Me Using Kelvin Scale to Measure Temperature

As a Canadian living in the states, I appreciate this.

I still can't understand America's obsession with trying to be unique.
even cringe measurements are
10 football fileds
pounds for weight & naming it as lbs
feet for height instead of metres
miles for distances instead of the greatest kilometres

sounds like they intentionally choss those to be unique from the world which turned out to be cringe for the entire world.

This is hilarious and actually made me laugh out loud. As an American who lived overseas and can't stand it in the states anymore and wants to go back... I felt this on many levels 😂😂

As an American I approve this message. This isn't why everyone hates us though.... lol

Fully agree. F vs C which make F is a total idiot.

Think of it like this...Farenheight is like the temperature scale for human tolerance. Celsius is the scale for water. Of course it's biased to colder climates cuz a white male from Europe came up with the scale, but the concept is still there. The real reason we still use it (like nearly everyone else did less than a century ago) is cuz Americans are stubborn beyond reason LOL

Everyone used Fahrenheit originally. France decided to try to standardize things. They sent a letter to Thomas Jefferson explaining the new system, but pirates stole it. It eventually got to Jefferson’s office but he was already retired. If it hadn’t been for pirates we’d probably be on the same system.

In the past, as American products dominated the market in engineering, the US could impose its system and expect the others to adapt. I'm not sure that's the case now.

What kumar mentioned is very correct in scientific theory.. 👍 👍 👍

And here I thought Celsius was harder to learn 😂😂

The way I heard it described is that Fahrenheit is sort of a relative temperature? Like it’s based more on how temperatures FEEL than what they actually are. So for example you know if it’s under 0 it’s REALLY cold and if it’s over 100 it’s REALLY hot. Doesn’t make the most sense, but that’s how I’ve heard it described

The worst part is how you convert between them. I accept that it’s not linear, but never bothered to learn why

If you study the word “Fahrenheit” as a German word, it makes much more sense.
