I was talking with someone recently and they said that America came up with the imperial system to be different back when we rebelled. I knew that wasn't right, but I didn't know where it came from either. So this was very helpful.

We still use ancient Imperial System here in America. Our entire infrastructure depends on it.

Why does it show 1/16 of a foot as longer than 1/12 of a foot? There are several other simple mathematical errors that should have been caught before making the animation.

Brilliant, what a great video, thank you, here in the UK we use a really mixed up use of metric and imperial, miles per gallon, miles per hour, timber in meter lengths but in inch widths?! still using pounds and ounces for certain products, it's as crazy as our weather!

Interesting to know that the term cubit was used instead of yard up until the late 15th century

Fascinating link between Ancient Greece and Rome and the UK Imperial system of weights and measures.

It's sad to think that this system of measurements lasted such a long time until it was replaced (almost completely) by Metric. Though personally, I was taught imperial at school here in England, and like many people here I still use it. They say: England is going metric inch, by inch ! 👍😎

Wait...then wouldn't "Yard Stick" actually be redundant? Gyrd Stick = Stick Stick
