Another good tip. Have you ever stripped a wing quill center stem? I tried it from Leiser's Complete Book of Fly Tying when learning how to tie. It was for Ted's (Niemeyer) Quill Stone, the abdomen was a mallard quill strip. I had problems with breaking at first, but the abdomen looked real! Soon I was tying some awesome looking nymphs. I'm sure you could swing a tip video on that. Thanks Tim.

I wonder if there is a difference in how well a pattern floats with a dubbed body vs. the same pattern but using a quill body. I would think that a dubbed body would get waterlogged more often, and I wonder if the quill bodied version would get waterlogged at all. Thoughts?
