DIY KITCHEN MAKEOVER (PART 1) | Paint-testing on melamine cabinets & Thrift Shopping

Now that mom-in-love is moved in, it's time to update her little kitchen and transform it into a space that brings her joy and pride. She's never had the opportunity of making her home exactly the way she wants is, so I really want to get this right for her.

I've wanted to do a DIY kitchen makeover since our previous house and I was curious to figure out the best way to paint melamine cabinets so it lasts. I'm taking my time to prepare a sample piece to test the best way to prepare and paint these cabinets before we go ahead and do the rest.

There's a second hand place called 2 cheap in strand. Would a polyurethane overtopcoat not seal it. Thanks for beitthe tester. I've seen US diyers do the painted doors but because i couldn't find the primer at brights i gave up, didn't even think of looking on takealot. So i have to plan redoing my kitchen cabinet doors amongst the thousands of other diys i have planed and on the go. Dit raak te veel som tyds maar dis ook my ontspanning van werk en studies. Die mense in die verf winkel het vir my gesê die low sheen of matt verf wys baie vinnige vuil en maak moeilik skoon. Jy kan selfs in die winkel na hul samples kyk en self sien die samples lyk vuiler. So jul moet dalk ‘n clear coat oorweeg nie net vir die looks nie maar dalk ook vir praktiese redes. Veral omdat dit kaste is wat mens gereeld aan gaan vat. 😊

Sterkte glo dit gaan harde werk wees!
