Kitchen Makeover Part 1 - Removing the Wrap From Kitchen Cabinets

Simple and quick way to remove those plastic wraps from your kitchen cabinets prior to painting. Remove hardware, heat with a hairdryer, break the seal along the edges with a blunt knife and peel it off! It would be easier still to remove the cabinet doors as you’ll have to take them off to sand them outdoors, particularly if they’re MDF (remember to wear a mask!)
I’ll be following up on this video with the sanding and painting so you can see the end result, so please subscribe to my channel.

Thanks for this. You've just saved me a lot of frustration and headaches

what about the frame? it doesn't matter as much here when it is white, but mine is patterned, and just refinishing the doors would not go with the frame...

Thanks, very useful - question, what do you do with the cabinets themselves (not the doors), do you need to remove the wrap from them as well? On other sites I have read you can just paint over them and dont need to remove the wrap, but that doesn't sound right to me ?

Do you have to remove the inside draws too. ? Mines are kinda all peel on the sides and bottom and on most doors

Hey I did this but my wood underneath is composite wood. What do you recommend?

This video is pre-prepped and takes a lot longer than he shows.

If you notice, at the start, he doesn't use the hair-dryer anywhere the underside or side edges but then easily peels them off with a a standard eating knife (not the best tool for this at all) - they wouldn't come off without heating first.

I only have this stuff on the doors. Everything else is thicker/snaps. The glue behind it is awful. Goo gone, acetone, heat🤦‍♀️ it won't budge. Going to try mineral spirits. Idk what yo do if that doesn't work. Power through it with a sander? Chemical concerns.

Did you use a heat gun or a hair dryer to remove the thermofoil?
