the border collie is the type of dog that if it were human would run around the house jumping onto or over everything while yelling "PARKOUR!"

The dog picking up the leash and giving it to the human was too much. I love that dog.

I've had 2 BCs and would never have another breed because of their intelligence and loyalty. They are 100 percent pure love and joy. But they are full of energy. Mine were both happy and balanced due to treating them like family. They had their chores, etc... Helping with laundry. 😉 Shepherding my son. Waking the family up for school and work. A regular schedule helped tremendously so they knew what to expect. They knew when both play time and exercise time was. I wouldn't recommend one as a pet unless you had other pets and plenty of space or you worked from home. They get too lonely and bored. Now there are new toys that stimulate and teach pets which is great. I ❤ BCs.

Had a precious Border Collie for 17 years, she was the best dog we ever had, lost her 4 years ago and it still hurts. Miss you Sasha girl, ❤

My dad brought a dog home 2 years ago, it was given to him by his boss. It was a crossbreed between a border collie and a dachshund. I was mostly the one who took care of him so initially expected him to grow up being a complete mix of his parents since he was so small when he was given to us but he grew up more into a collie along with his personality and intelligence. I barely trained him and let him do his own thing but whenever I talk to him he knows exactly what I meant. I didn’t even train him much on walking outside without a leash but after trying to train him on that for like a week he already got used to commands and hand signals. I mean our pit bulls and labradors are also smart and were quite trainable but it was not as easy as with our collie.

My dad got me a border collie when I was little, she was the greatest dog I’ve ever had. She lived to be 21, I believe, before we had to euthanize her due to her bad health and not wanting to put her through any pain. But even when she went blind and mostly deaf she still recognized us and was always so happy to see us even if she couldn’t get the strength to sit up and put one of her paws on us. I’m glad I got to grow up with a border collie and my pet. She was an amazing companion for me as I was raised like an only child since my siblings came from different mothers and lived with them. I am definitely considering getting another border collie later in my life!

As someone who has a border collie-whippet mix I can definitely confirm they need a ton of exercise. Mine's dumber than a brick, though.
Edit: she wasn't originally trained by me as she's a rescue, but whoever trained her initially didn't do a great job lol

I use to have a border collie for 15 years until she passed away one morning and she was the most intelligent and loyal dog I ever had she use to help our neighbor heard her cows and sheep all the time and would wait at the end of our driveway when I got off the bus or came back from my mom and she never ran off and she would always be there for me no matter what I miss her alot even if she past away 3 years ago

That dog just walked on water like he’s Jesus

As a boarder collie owner I can say they do need a lot of exercise, but if I don’t get her to go outside and play she is the most lazy dog I’ve ever had

My wife and I had a border collie (Moose) he lived for 16 yrs. He went everywhere with us and we could not keep him out of water.
When Moose was eight we got a Belgium Shepherd puppy (Jake) that was the happiest day of Moose's life. Jake mimicked all of Moose's habits and made it easier for us because of Moose's energetic nature.
Best dogs we ever had.

I had one. She died when she was about 21 yrs old, and from illness, not from old age. I used to call her " my fitness instructor". Like a lot of owners say, you need to make time for them to give them the possibility to exercise all that energy. Even with a decent size yard, you still need to give them attention and exercise. It also helps to have other animals around, like cats or other dogs, they are really friendly with other animals.

I can confirm! I absolutely love my Border Collie, AMAZING breed!
I have never had a dog that understands me so much, he listens like he knows English. It’s unreal how smart they can be!

Attention if you want a border collier: do not get one if you can’t give it a very active lifestyle. If you have a 9 to 5 and nobody can take over, it’s a no
My parents have one and it developed anxiety and a heart problem because of it, the vet scolded them for it

We got one at a shelter and did not understand what we were getting into, he's smart, loyal, and a troublemaker. He can play fetch for hours.

I had an amazing Border Collie, "Pandy" looked like a Panda Bear as a pup. Keeping her busy was no problem. We got her when our 5 children were between 1 year & 7 years. Pandy went everywhere with them. We are rural so my kids were her 'sheep'. When all the kids were grown and left, she mourned deeply & her health failed. I bless that dog many, many times. She would defend them, as she proved!
