I have a new found respect for animators. I mean 1440 sketches for one minute of animation. Now that's labor intensive!

Man I love this guy's videos! I remember first seeing this video when I was 11 years old in 2009 and it really inspired me to animate cartoons! I would always stack a bunch of tracing paper and draw and animate my own characters! Now I am 19 years old and I have applied to California Institute of the Arts to study Character Animation for Fall 2017! I want to create cartoons for television in the style of SpongeBob/Tom and Jerry. Wish me the best of luck!!! :)

I know It's a lot of drawings but I can't explain how satisfying it is when it finally starts to move and when you flip through it! I don't care how much it's going to kill me mentally the satisfaction is so so worth it to me lol

...So 3 drawings later and you made like 1/10th of a second worth of movie!!!! This is why computers took over the animation industry, consistency of the drawings and huge and elaborate scenes make it so hard to make by hand.

I used to make cartoons by my own when I was young, it took me days and I always felt they were to anything special worth watching, cause I wondered how can they make amazing cartoons... well it took thousands of people I guess, a lot of money and a shitload of time!

You people may find this weird but I want to become an animator when I grow up and I'm preparing myself by making my cartoons as comics and when I grow up I want to turn them into full length theatrical films and tv shows! :)

I still animate on paper. I tried graduating entirely to the paperless method of traditional animation, but that turned out to be too overwhelming for my liking. So, I ultimately stuck to traditional pencil on paper with digital coloring and final composition. My Cameron Cat cartoons look a lot better that way in my opinion. By the way, I mostly use limited animation and some full animation. Most importantly, I do everything in the making of my cartoons: All the animation drawings and scenic backgrounds, all the hilarious stories, and all the character voices.

I think we should just draw it out bc if we don’t and get right to it we don’t have a scripted plan and we don’t know what to do and it can be useful for character design

I worked as an inbetweener at Speilbergs' Amblin unit, but I didn't like it--it was just endless cleanup of already-existing drawings, there was no freedom to create your own cartoons. I enjoy doing the rough extremes though. Great tutorial!

Holy balls, I could never do this. I already sort of knew what was behind animation, but I have an even further sense of appreciation now.

Take it easy guys he is just showing the original (and first) way cartoons were made, moving on. I thank the maker of the video for giving advice and tips on how to do this. If you ladies and gentelmen dont like the video, then just leave it alone. If you have nothing good to say, please dont say it. There are some people who did enjoy this video. Thanks for understanding.
