My former pastor told us all one time how his wife was at Walmart and couldn't get into her car because the fob wouldn't unlock it. He told her to call a locksmith. Locksmith shows up, inserts the key into the lock and unlocks the door. She didn't even argue over the $60 she got charged

Tbf, when you're really anxious, most critical thinking goes out the window

When you are panicked and in a high stress situation you don’t think rationally so I mean I understand why

Honestly though, we all have moments where we don't see the obvious solution in our panic! :)

Did you hear the joke about the blonde that locked herself out of her convertible car? She called AAA, told them to send someone quickly because she's locked out, and the roof is down, and it's about to rain. The guy drives out, reaches over the window, unlocks the door, opened the door, reached on the seat, and handed her the keys. The lady was so greatful. Still didn't understand she could have done that herself.🤦‍♀️
I was told that joke 30 years ago, it's still funny.

I mean this one I understand a lot more because I'm sure she wasn't told when she bought the car she could still get out without electricity

With all the “losing glasses on your face or phone you’re talking on or keys in your hand” stories that exist, I’m not surprised that this could happen. Sometimes our brains blue screen and either need time to reboot or someone to reset them.

In college, I did lock myself out of my car. I was low on funds. A friend happened to have given me the best advice for that situation just 2 days before. He told me: 1. Call the local non emergency police line. 2. Ask them if they have a car in the area. 3. Humbly admit you locked your keys in your car. Be kind, humble and gracious.
A patrol car was there 15 minutes later and popped my door open in 5 seconds flat. I thanked him profusely. He was happy to help and said, “we serve AND protect. Mad props to the Provo Police Department.

Me: locks myself in a car with locks unlocked.
Also me: ties my shoes to take them off

When you are in a panicked state you can just not think of things clearly like remembering she could manually open them. Especially if she never does it regularly. Edit also to add not all vehicles can pull them up manually too

A friend of mine had a muscle car the throttle stuck wide open. He panics, yells at his wife to get out quick, it's going to blow. As he runs away from the car, she calmly reaches over and shuts the key off! We still harass him to this day about that.

She was probably panicking to much so she didn't really think about it, or she was overthinking it

How little of humanity just doesn't know how to use a key or the lock tabs?
