Imagine not being able to see sunlight for 25 years… I would literally go insane too. This is so horrible and may she rest in paradise 🥺💖

She was so beautiful, she looked so nice, and she lost her best years this is so sad, how a family can do this to their children

I can’t believe that she was locked away longer than I’ve been alive. That’s terrifying to think about

I know the full story, It's actually very sad how their "loved ones" locked her in there.

It’s sad knowing that she suffered so much for falling in love over a “penniless lawyer” that her mother did not approve of. It was even sadder knowing that he died 16 years before she was found. I’m thankful for the anonymous letter that was sent to the police otherwise who knows how long until she was found

She was locked up in a room for 25 years because she fell in love with a common man. When she was rescued, the horrified policemen were so overwhelmed by the smell of filth and decay in the room that they were unable to stay in the room more than a few minutes: Blanche had been there for twenty-five years. She was immediately taken to a hospital while her mother and brother who locked her in the room were placed under arrest.

I'll explain her case:

Blanche Monnier fell in love with a broke lawyer that was older than her, since she came from a rich family, her mother didn't approved the relationship, so she locked her in that room with no windows until she changed her mindset, Blanche had the hope her mother would free her after some sort of time, but she didn't, 3 years later, Blanche's lover died yet her mother didn't set her free and what was worse is that her brother was her mother accomplice and supported her in torturing Blanche, and to cover up that she was missing, Madame Monnier convinced everyone saying she went insane and that's why she was locked

So Blanche spent 25 years surviving in that locked room with only food scrapes a servant threw to her and also wallowing in her urine, feces, rotten food scrapes, rats, roaches and all kind of disgusting and nasty stuff, and all of that was on a mattress where she slept, eat, and made all her droppings.

Infact, also after 25 years the police of poitier received an anonymous card where it explained how she disappeared and how her living conditions were at that time, and so the police went to Madame's Monnier house and she was forced to give them the keys, and so when they opened...she was alive but naked, dirty and very skinny, and she was already 49 (almost 50) so her mother and brother faced the charges, and she got taken straight to rehabilitation where she got cleansed inmediately

Something positive about this is that she gained more weight and re-learned how to talk but she couldn't fully recover and she died only 12 years after her rescue

All of that happened in France btw

All because she wanted to marry a lawyer. Lawyers at that time, while used frequently by wealthy people, were paupers and looked down on. The police received an anonymous note telling where she was. She was covered, as was the room, in rotten food, feces, urine and bugs. She had been locked away nude and her health and skin were in horrible condition. The smell was overwhelming but they didn't know how bad the scene was until they removed the boards from the window. Her mother died from a heart attack before her court date. Police thought the anonymous note was from her brother, that he had been in on it the entire time, and the only reason he told was because of a disagreement with his mother over money and her will.. This case has always bothered me so badly.

I think we all gotta be greatful that we aren’t in her position and Pray that it never happens to anyone again

Edit: Guys, really appreciate the amount of attention this comment has gotten. Just noting that I’ve recently seen that there are multiple cases where people have gone missing for years.
We don’t know what they may be going through right now but we really all have to dig our heads down, and pray for these people. Because we easily overlook them.

Her mother locked her away because she was beautiful, let that sink in.

All because she fell in love with a commoner instead of a Noble😢.

Now that I’m thinking about how terrible it must’ve smelt and felt, I feel like throwing up 😭😭, I really hope no one ever gets in her position.

I feel so bad for her… literally no one deserves that and she was a beautiful woman and calm, 25 years is SUPER EXTENSIVE and her “loved ones” were HORRIBLE for doing that

The truly sad part about this, is this happens more often than we are aware.

This story makes me cry everytime. Poor girl fell in love with the "wrong" person. So they said she was crazy and locked her in her room for 25 years!! Staff knew- not because they sometimes fed her but because of her screams!
The family passed off the screaming and crying as her being severely emotionally disturbed.
What happened is truly horrifying. Poor Poor woman 🥺
