I'd like to say how great this video is and that I have been using it in full with my Retail, Customer Service and Warehousing students/apprentices for the last couple of years here in England. They love it, and it totally rings true. Maybe, if I'd seen this when it was released ten years ago, I might not have gotten divorced, but now I use the technique with my partner, and we have been together for over nine years! How to deal with conflict?

Denial- is one of the most common problem when it comes to
resolving conflict. (ie. Avoiding it, going on stress leave,
etc.)

Definition of Conflict
- Conflict exists when one person has a need of another and
that need is not being met

Step 1: Express the Need (Very Important, We can't solve problem if
it is not stated as a problem - Awareness)
Step 2: Find out if the need can or cannot be met
Step 3: If no, must negotiate

* It is important to first go with Step 1 and 2... Most people
skip the first 2 steps resolving unhealthy ways to deal with
conflict...

* If the conflict is too hard to handle, consider a neutral 3rd party
to help mediate the dispute, ,

It can go both ways though. Resolving conflict is essential for success but it's easy to take it too far. Sometimes people will want to just drop a subject and if you're trying to force resolution - the act of seeking resolution can become a conflict in need of resolution in itself.

Love this video. If I wasn't moving out I would have shown it to my roommate, who - it seems - was annoyed by my humour (sarcasm does require an above average IQ after all) and it took her months to tell me, which was already too late. The skipping of step 1&2 is literally what happened to me. Things escalated without me knowing jack squat about it until it blew up in my face.
