A friend lived in that house back in the 90's. He said the size wasn't the issue, the lack of insulation was, it's probably been upgraded since.

For Canadian standards yes, very small. For the smallest I have seen, that goes to Japan, some apartments are about the size of the door frame. They also have hotel pods... its basicly a hole in a wall where you sleep like a sleeping bag. I think China has apartments the size of a big dog kennel.
