Hypokalemia is a low level of potassium (K+) in the blood serum.[1] Mild low potassium does not typically cause symptoms.[3] Symptoms may include feeling tired, leg cramps, weakness, and constipation. Low potassium also increases the risk of an abnormal heart rhythm, which is often too slow and can cause cardiac arrest.[1][3]
Mild hypokalemia is often without symptoms, although it may cause elevation of blood pressure,[6] and can provoke the development of an abnormal heart rhythm. Severe hypokalemia, with serum potassium concentrations of 2.5–3 meq/L (Nl: 3.5–5.0 meq/L), may cause muscle weakness, myalgia, tremor, and muscle cramps (owing to disturbed function of skeletal muscle), and constipation (from disturbed function of smooth muscle). With more severe hypokalemia, flaccid paralysis and hyporeflexia may result. Reports exist of rhabdomyolysis occurring with profound hypokalemia with serum potassium levels less than 2 meq/L.[7] Respiratory depression from severe impairment of skeletal muscle function is found in some people.[

Add to the list- Entire digestive system shutting down. Mine stayed low for months. I kept having nausea. Every doctor I went to said its just my morning sickness and I just need to wait it out. I in my 8th pregnancy. I knew what nausea from morning sickness was and when it was something different. But they wouldn't listen to me. Went on for months kept getting worse and my digestive system starting shutting down. I could only eat 3 bites of food at a time then weight 8 hours before I could try to fit another 3 bites. I lost tons of weight and lots of muscle from starving. Finally I went to the ER for some other non related reason and they did blood work on me and my potassium was 2.8. Finally a doctor that believed me that it wasn't just morning sickness, gave me a proper diagnosis and prescribed me potassium pills. I now can eat normal again and use the bathroom. I'm also not falling asleep throughout the day and can finally concentrate

Holy crap! I’ve suffered of low potassium before and was giving a supplement then I was taken off! I have most of these symptoms mentioned here! Why do I have to be my own doctor?!

I almost died from too low potassium! Passing out, called 911 and at the hospital it was 2.6. To low for a senior they said I would have died if I hadn’t gone to hospital. Infusion and now on medication. Very hard to get enough through food. I did have many of these symptoms, especially brain fog & thirst. Hydrochlorothiazide was also the problem. Good luck to all, hope you can take the advice. 😊

Potatoes, bananas, apples, coconut water, all great sources of potassium. They don’t teach us a fuck of what we really need in school.

This is the one thing my blood work always comes back as low. Makes sense...the doctors always says your potassium is dangerously low. They never do anything about it. I just sometimes take it. Never been told how serious it can be. They also know I have heart palpitations... Why not tell me more? Or maybe doctors truly don't know

The one major thing the list did not mention and the one which sends health care peeps into panic is either to high or to low K can cause deadly heart arrythmias. All the rest is uncomfortable however not life threatening.

The reason the cream of tarter works well is because it is crushed grape seeds and is the white substance in the bottom of a freshly brewed bottle of wine that has settled. A balanced potassium is important because too much can cause a heart beat problem.

Had a big scare today in the ER due to heart palpitations. My pulse was 137 for over 1 hour consistently. Thankfully they treated me well and took care of the issue but it was definitely scary

I just went through this my levels was critically low which was 0.8 way below the recommend 3.5, doctors and nurses kept looking at me like they we're suprised I was alive, I was paralyzed for couple days I was in the hospital for 1 week because it took a while for levels to go back to normal so no joke keep track of you're potassium don't be an idiot like me and learn the hard way.

Wow, my doctor didn’t mention any of this. I was hospitalized with pneumonia back in February. My potassium was below 3.0, should be between, I believe 3-7 or 3.5 - 7.5. At one point it dipped to 1.7 😳. They said they were having a really bad time getting where it should be. I was getting it through IV, which hurts like hell, and I had to drink it. It tastes like the saltiest seawater you’ve ever had the displeasure of tasting. A year before I was in the ER for something else and it was really low then too. Now, 4 months after being in the hospital this last time it’s low again. They never told me a thing about this list of symptoms, I experience most all that! I actually have an appointment today for blood work to have it checked. I swear, this is bananas!

1 tbsp Cream Of Tartar = +-1485mg Potassium. can use this for electrolyte drink added with some Magnesium powder & Salt/Sodium. some info added so that, some will understand the measurements --> Cream of Tartar (1 tsp = 495mg, 2 tsp = 990mg & 3 tsp aka 1 tbsp = 1485mg). the intakes depend on own daily potassium, if low, can take 3 tsp/1 tbsp (1485mg). if enough, just 1 tsp (495mg) or half tsp (248mg). i put 1 tbsp because that should be enough (so that not over do it). 4700mg - 1485mg = 3215mg which, maybe can get Potassium fm other natural sources...

Me sitting her watching this while constipated, tired for no reason, and itching my ridiculously dry skin 😳
My asthma medicine lowers my potassium levels and I'm struggling to keep them up. Wish this video gave some recommendations on how to get more potassium
