After taking out two of his boss’s street dealers, Walt realizes that Gus is planning to kill him and Jesse and replace them with his former assistant.

Season Three - Episode Thirteen: "Full Measure"

Episode Description:
With Jesse on the run and Mike in hot pursuit, Walt negotiates a bargain with Gus and concocts a disturbing plan to provide for his and Jesse's safety.

Episode Overview:
After running down a pair of drug dealers in his car before they could kill Jesse, Walt heads to the desert to explain his actions to his boss, Gus. Though Gus is upset over losing two of his employees and wants to get his hands on Jesse as revenge, Walt makes it clear that he would never be able to find him and that the best course of action is to forget about Pinkman and resume their business relationship as if nothing had happened. So, after Gus appears to go along with the idea for now, Walt returns to work to find that Gale Boetticher has been rehired as his assistant. Meanwhile, after taking out a quartet of Mexican cartel hit men at the behest of his boss, Mike – Gus’s private investigator and enforcer – turns his attention to finding Jesse.

Back in the lab, Walt works to repair his relationship with Gale and starts cooking a new batch of meth. Without telling Walt, Gus shows up at Gale’s apartment to tell him about his mentor’s cancer and to ask how long it would take him to learn everything he would need to know to run the lab on his own. But when Walt notices Gale asking more questions about the process than usual, he realizes his assistant is being prepped to take over once Gus has him killed. Meanwhile, when Mike’s search for Jesse takes him to see Saul Goodman, the lawyer tries to hide behind attorney-client privilege. But once Saul realizes his own life is at stake, he discreetly provides Mike with an address he says will lead to Jesse. However, once Mike is gone, Saul takes Walt for one more look at the laser tag business he proposes they use to launder their drug dealing profits and reveals that it is where Jesse is really hiding. And to ensure that Gus can’t afford to kill him, Walt tells Jesse he is going to kill Gale.

Calling Walt at home where he is waiting with his family, Jesse passes along the address he found for Gale. Though Jesse begs him to call the police and inform on Gus to save himself, Walt insists on following through with their plan. But just as he is leaving to take care of Gale, Walt is ambushed by Gus’s henchman, Victor, and taken to the lab where Mike is waiting. Pleading for mercy, Walt then offers to give up Jesse in exchange for his own life. But, after calling to warn him that Mike and Victor are on their way, Walt insists that Jesse’s only hope is to kill Gale before they get to him.

one of my favorite scenes ever. The way Jesse didn‘t even hesitates to do it and understands immediately.

The way Heisenburg adjusts his shirt at the end is pretty badass...

Jesse and Walt had there differences. The main reason they were alive was because of eachother. Having each others backs.

I love the fact that Walt begging for his life was just an act to make the request to get Jesse on the phone more convincing. Walt was a puppet master, pulling everyone's strings

0:28 first time I watched this is when I realised the true loyalty of Jesse. Soon as he heard Walt was in trouble he took his gun and ran, no questions asked

I never know telling an address is gonna be this badass.

I like how at first Mike is going through the motions here, he's done this before with Werner, which he absolutely hated doing but knew it had to be done, yet with respect and dignity (letting Werner call his wife). Mike doesn't blink as it appears Walt starts begging for his life, he's heard it all before, and is not overly phased when Walt reveals he can give them Jesse even though he thinks he can take advantage of the situation by letting Walt make the call and killing two birds with one stone.

Once Mike takes the phone away from Walk after he gives instructions, you can see there Mike still isn't actually shocked or afraid, he's surprised, curious, maybe even a little annoyed. You can see him smirk a bit before he asks what that was about, as if he needed any more justification to kill Walt now that he's messing with him, but its not until Walt reveals his plan that Mike's expression completely changes, as does his entire perception of Walt as a whole and even his own ability to judge people.

Don't forget that Mike did NOT want to kill Werner in BCS, the situation essentially forced his hand, and though he did so loyally he was not happy about it. Werner's death did affect Mike, because Mike could see that Werner really was just an intelligent, innocent man caught up in the criminal underworld, and it hurt mike quite a bit to have to be the guy that buries and innocent man... it even caused a slight rift between Fring and Mike for awhile. In my opinion, up to this point, I believe Mike thought of Walter largely as Werner 2.0, an ordinarily normal man with exceptional talent working for bad people, and for that same reason probably didn't think much of the order to kill Walt because he's been through it all before.

The moment Walt says Gale's address, however, Mike realizes that Walter not only has the upperhand in the situation, but Mike takes a step back and realizes that he has misjudged Walter's character entirely from the very beginning. Werner could have never have dreamed of killing another person or planning another person's murder, yet Walter does exactly that here, at gun point no less, with complete and total confidence in complete contrast to his actions just moments prior. Don't forget that Mike is an ex-cop, so he's pretty good at figuring out people, so the fact Walter has managed to hide Heisenberg from Mike up until this moment actually shakes him up.

I feel another great scene that mirrors this is when Hank finally confronts Walt in his garage in the end. There's a moment Hank honestly says "I don't know who you are anymore... I don't know who I'm talking to"... and I feel Mike is feeling that exact sentiment in this scene here.

Mike lets Walt call Jesse like he let Werner call his wife.

Sounds like a half measure to me, Mike

Lol at Mike last reaction, he's not only surprised that Walt managed to be a step ahead but he's also shocked at Walt for being able to kill

1:14 Mike's face says it all.He took a half measure while Walter took a full one. After hearing the adress Mike realised he has no option.Yes, still he could carry out Gus's orders and kill Walter but on the other hand, Jesse was on his way to kill Gale and with Walter and Gale dead, there would be no one but Jesse that'd know Walter's blue sky recipe. And by killing him too, all the people having knowledge of that recipe would be gone, Gus's expenses would leave him bankrupt with no possibilities of any recovery since even if he found other producers they wouldn't know how to produce blue sky, along with the risk oh having his drug buisness exposed. And with that Gus, Mike, Victor, Saul would be kissing prison bars for the rest of their lives and thousands of Los Pollos Hermanos employees would lose their jobs since police would have permit to legally shut down the restaurant chain.Walter'd plan was just brilliant and elaborate.Too bad for Gale though.Just finished Season 3 today. As the seasons progress Walter's chara ter and personality is constantly fading away and getting replaced by Heisenberg...

Love this show

The acting here is just so brilliant. Walter's change into Heisenberg, Mike's bewilderment and Jessies panic they are all on point.

I think this is the only time we’ve ever seen Mike genuinely surprised by something.

Bro the way he turns from timid scared man to Heisenberg is almost chilling. His acting is amazing in this show

Mike’s face at 1:13 is the first moment he realizes who exactly Walt is. Till that point, Walt’s right move was to obey, so Mike never saw how effective he was when the time came to make a big move. He totally misread Walt’s character up until that point. Everything about Walt’s personality makes you think he would never straight up kill Gale, therefore the shock in Mike’s eyes isn’t one of being outsmarted — it’s simply the look of shock that he would kill Gale just to leave Gus empty handed, even if it costs him later.

This was the moment when the show went from great to legendary. This might be my favorite moment in TV history. A complete and total shift in power with just one sentence.
