Why Apple won't put iMessage on Android

They thought about it, but they realized it would be a bad idea.

Thats quite interesting, because in Germany NO ONE is using iMessage (since iPhone's market share is just too low). In some markets it would indeed make sense for Apple to release iMessage for Android.

I think it's stupid to say it's embarrassing to have green text bubbles, several important people I text everyday have green bubbles and I could care less

I only see iMessage used heavily in the US for some unknown reason to me, since there are plenty of cross-platform messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram. Most parts of the world are using WhatsApp. I agree with the part where iMessage is implemented into the ecosystem. But you have to consider that people can switch to another messaging app if they really wanted to.

As a "fandroid" i agree. i think it would be a stupid idea for apple to do this because all my iphone friends arguments about their phones are "can you send imessage". that is the only thing they can come up with when it comes to the "my phone is better" argument

As someone that was with apple all the way up to the iPhone 7 but now has a Galaxy S8, I really miss imessage. I love Android for pretty much every other reason but their messaging is so divided and all over the place.

If iMessage goes on android it will be the only messaging service available, all other messaging services will go out of business and Apple will rule the world. I think they should do it, literally everyone would have it.

That's one of the things I love about iOS! I can text my friends (who have iOS) from my iPad (using wifi). Also, I love the new apps for iMessage like Game Pinion as it's fun to interact that way with people! Anyone else like the games on iMessage?

You CAN set up a new Messenger account only based on a phone number. No Facebook necessary.

Why are people posing WhatsApp as a one-word solution as if it is truly equivalent? Yeah, it has the same basic online message function and is importantly cross-platform, but switching to it means sacrificing a great deal of functionality. Nothing compares to iMessage in iOS10. N o t h i n g. And I say that as a European who has to use WhatsApp

iMessage does exist on Android, it's just called whatsapp.

I really hate that all my friends have android, i have iphone of coarse but i can't use the imessage feature that often, it is a shame, and for some reason my friends really hate apple and they can't tell me why
