Having difficult conversations like these can be tough, especially because people have different communication styles. Today, I share 3 TIPS to ensure that those conversations you need to have become more productive and not harmful.

When dealing with people, there will be times when difficult conversations are necessary. They're inevitable. And while there's a destructive way to do it, there's always a HEALTHY WAY to do it.

Communication is key. It's important to know: how does the other person need to be communicated with? You may find that their communication style is different from yours and that they might understand things differently. It's crucial to be sensitive to these differences in communication styles.

How can you say things so the other person is likely to receive it well? Are you willing to hear their perspective and see things from their viewpoint? Effective communication is also about the ability to empathize with the person on the receiving end.

Preparation is extremely important for having difficult conversations. If you want to articulate your thoughts and say things the right way, you have to prepare your talking points. This way you can avoid saying the wrong thing or avoid the other person misinterpreting you, given your difference in communication styles.

In difficult conversations, the truth will always be appropriate when delivered with grace.
