My wife and I relocated to the Lake Michigan shoreline one year before the plandemic. After 20 years in the Tampa Bay area, we absolutely love it here as a retirement home. Friendly people, no traffic, no love bugs, four seasons, freshwater lakes everywhere and plenty of recreation. We are outdoors now more than we ever were in Florida.

I'm soooo excited 😊😆 soon I'll be calling Michigan my permanent home and work full time so I can buy and own my own house or apartment. I know God's going to bless me and keep me safe

As someone who lives in Grand Rapids I will agree everybody in the suburbs and towns know eachother, we are VERY friendly

As someone who has lived in Lansing for 20 years, and has visited family in Saginaw plenty of times, this video doesnt exactly highlight a lot of the negatives that come with a lot of these cities, like with Saginaw, the economy is not great at all and it left a lot of the buildings abandoned, and with Lansing, I love my hometown, but there really isnt much to do besides going to bars. East Lansing is a lot better but it still has similar issues, if you're legitimately considering moving to Michigan, as you'll see with a lot of these commenters, Grand Rapids is a very nice place to live, same with most of the suburbs of Detroit, just be prepared for heavy traffic anywhere in that area

Lol!! Okay so for anyone watching this who isn’t from Michigan here is some perspective from a lifelong resident. The only nice places to live in this list are Royal Oak, Traverse City (nice but very expensive), Grand Rapids (nice mid sized city that has big city amenities with a smaller town feel), and Ann Arbor (nice town but insanely expensive. The rest of the places in this list are places I would never recommend anyone to live reasons being they either have nothing to do (like Lansing) or are sketchy/ghetto like Kalamazoo, Saginaw, and Muskegon

Some of the Saginaw views were edited because Saginaw is filled with urban decay & also pretty much has as much bad crime per capita as Flint and Detroit.

Anyone who would put Saginaw, Muskegon, or Lansing on this list obviously doesn’t know Michigan!

Traverse City - (pronounced Trav-erse City) is fantastic - I made the move during the pandemic. Yes, it is expensive to live in the "city", which is only 8 square miles with population of 15, 000. The good news is that is less expensive outside the city limits with Grand Traverse (Trav-erse) County having a population over 100, 000 people. Year round recreation including swimming, boating, biking, skiing, golfing and more. With great schools, miles of beaches, fantastic restaurants, festivals, wineries, shopping, microbreweries, an abundance of lodging options, distilleries, entertainment, lighthouses, Sleeping Bear Dunes - there's something for everyone. There's even an airport with convenient flights. An amazing place to live, work, play, or just vacation. Come visit, and you may never want to leave!

Love Michigan. Won't ever leave. As climate change worsens Michigan will remain least affected.

As someone who lives in Madison, Wisconsin, the Michigan State Capitol Building in this video is actually the Wisconsin State Capitol Building 😂😂😂. I question the imagery contained in this video now lol

The city of Saginaw would disagree with them being on this list.

This video was amazing! I've lived two streets away from the the Michigan border in Ohio for 35 years and never knew what I had right next door. Thank you!

I thought this list is "8 best". At least 3-4 areas need clarification. Some of these areas have both good and bad sides. The average home cost is reflected by both the less desirable areas and desirable. There are many areas that are rated higher than these, and are affordable. Anyone looking to move to some of these areas, be sure to do all your research.

I would say Mackinaw Island would b the best to live in cause all the houses and water make it look like a dream

If my hometown Saginaw is even on a list of anything of a good nature that's a shock. But if the population is 43, 000 in 2023, while the population was 92, 000 in 1981 how can anybody say it's a good place to live? I left the state for good in 2021 and don't care to even go back

I grew up in Saginaw. At one time it was a great town. Then GM closed the four major factories and the town died. Gang warfare broke out, mostly on the east side and southeast part of town but it also spread over to the west side. I got out of that town and I'll never go back. I know people who still live there and they tell me nothing's improved. I stopped watching this video at that point because I figured the rest would just as much BS.
