Mexico is a country which for most of its modern History has always been overshadowed by its Norther Neighbour the United States. The two countries share a long border which has caused many issues.

However Mexico may be finally breaking free from its neighbour and carving its own path

I work for an airline in china, last month we launched a new direct route to Mexico. I still remember how surprised I felt when I learnt that the passengers are mainly business personals from china. They work for BYD and so forth that has businesses set up in Mexico.

As a person in United States, I do not look down upon Mexico. I am actually quite happy for Mexico. 😊

I told my family in Mexico years ago that Mexico is going to be the next power house they didn’t believe me, now they do with everyone moving there, and jobs coming to the country

They didn't talk about it but Mexico tourist industry is huge! In 2022 Mexico received 66 million tourists! That is a lot!! 😲

When I was growing up in a small town in Mexico in the 90’s. I remember I didn’t even have a toilet until I was 5. I didn’t have a shower at home until I was 10. Most days I would eat beans. My mom would only cook meat once a week. We could only watch one channel on TV. My dog would only eat leftover human food. My family would use wood to cook most of the time. But oh boy, nowadays pretty much everyone has access to all that. It’s amazing how 30 years can make a big difference in a town.

I just got back from Mexico. Before my recent trip, last time I was in Mexico was in 1994. I’m really, really impressed how Mexico has changed. I saw the quality of life people in Mexico City, Jalisco, and Cancún now have. My uncle in Mexico City lived in a poor old shack back in 94. Now that area he transformed it into a two story house with 2 bathrooms and even a balcony. It’s still very modest but compared to what it was in 1994, it’s an improvement. My wife is from the Philippines, and when I visited the Philippines in 5 years ago, I thought Mexico and Philippines are pretty much the same. Boy was I was wrong.. huge difference in the quality of life both people have. Many people in Jalisco, Mexico City and Cancún have stable jobs, thus contribute to the economy. If Mexico can keep the cartel problem as bay, and motivate its people to seek higher education, I see a bright future for Mexico.

Many Chinese factories are now offshoring to Mexico to evade heavy US tariffs. Mexico is having a golden opportunity to develop an industrialized knowledge-bases economy driven partially by foreign investment. The US-Mexico border affair however, has always been a moot topic when thousands of illegal undocumented migrants flock to America via Mexico each year, most of which are not Mexican.

Mexico has always been slept on, besides the migrant crisis from the early 2000s we have been quietly growing every year. The biggest problem we have is corruption, if we manage to stamp it out by 2035-2040 we can definitely be fighting for top 5 economies by 2060. I have hope and faith that my country will prevail. ❤️🇲🇽
