As a mexican who grew up in Colorado and came back to Mexico when I was ten years old, i have a lot of love for both countries. I've been living in Mexico for over 15 years now (I'm 25) and I'm pretty sure i can speak for every Mexican when I say, we would love nothing more than to see our country flourish into a safe, developed and prosperous nation.

The biggest obstacle I see is the super deeply ingrained corruption in our country, a big part of this is the cartels and the other part is greedy / spineless leaders we've had for so long. We've been facing this for so many decades that entire generations have grown complacent and accepted the status quo when Mexican culture was quite literally based on rising up and fighting against the status quo when things weren't to the peoples liking.

Hopefully with both the U.S. and Mexico moving towards the goal of making the North American Union (like the European Union) we'll see our government forced to make changes in fear of missing out on a massive influx of foreign investment. Because I mean, what foreign company would want to place their manufacturing hubs in a country riddled with hyper violent and dangerous criminal organizations that rival the deadliest terrorist organizations in the world.

I believe as long as Canadians, Americans and Mexicans work together towards the same goal of living safe, healthy and happy lives we'll be just fine!

I've been living in Mexico for over five years and I've been coming here for decades. Mexico is definitely on the move upward and it is well-deserved. The citizens are hard working and ambitious and very creative. Watch out world, Mexico is a winner.
