The Social Network soundtrack broke the mold of what soundtracks should be like. That is why its going to stay as an important milestone in cinema. It's absolutely brilliant in every way.

He's done everything. "Pretty Hate Machine" was synthpop, "Broken" was blistering metal, "Downward Spiral" is (arguably) one of the defining records of the Industrial genre, and "Fragile" is a hugely ambitious concept album that really has to be listened to as a whole - and now he's winning Oscars for film scores that are completely unlike any of that. The man is a genius and a legend.

I don't think David is being miserable, more like his mind is just blown. In one of Trent Reznor's interviews for this score, he said that David told him not to even worry or think about Oscar season. Then Trent and Atticus did the unthinkable and won an Oscar. David looks stunned when the camera cuts to him in the audience

An unconventional Best Score winner, but the most deserving. Reznor and Ross do a fantastic job with their aesthetic-building synths, and the phenomenal atmosphere their score creates. We rarely see scores like this win, but they absolutely deserved it!

And the camera's on you, maybe, at all times. "I need to pick my nose, but I can't risk it." Then you hear your name in slow motion. "OK, hug my wife. Don't trip over the cord. Why am I taking steps two at a time? I'm going to slip, but I can't stop. Oh my God there's Nicole Kidman, she's nine feet tall. Is the mic on?" It's over in a millisecond and you're backstage with an Oscar in your hand." - Yup Reznor perfectly describe anxiety. Only ones with anxiety fully understand this. Million questions, million possible solutions, answers million things you must answer to yourself in only couple of seconds. Anxious overthinking.
