Soon after, The New York Times published an investigative report asserting that 38 eyewitnesses saw the attack and retreated to their apartments, and the case quickly became a symbol of urban apathy. THE WITNESS follows the efforts of her brother, Bill, as he looks to uncover the truth buried beneath the story. In the process, he makes astonishing discoveries about the crime that transformed his life, condemned a city, and defined an era.

I saw this documentary today. I also learned here in YouTube, this evening, that her killer died in April 2016 in prison. The documentary is poignant because it demonstrates how a single crime can have ripple effects for fifty years and more, both in the perp's family as well as the victim's. I hope that this documentary helps her brother Bill Genovese to make his peace with his loss.

I was only 6 years old went it happened, but I remember adults saying that dozens of people watching her being stabbed and killed in New York and did nothing. That's how I thought it happened, until the recent documentaries and investigations proved otherwise.

Grat Documentary MOvie. I thught that was a geat scene when the Brother makes the son of Kitty's Murdereer's. Big Spioler Ahead- He was in total denial and still thought his FAther was Innocent and with no Proof said the Mafia did it.

I htought the Movkie was also great at Showing how Press lied. That was all crap that there were 38 Witnesses who did nothing. the brother expalins what really happenned. That most people couldn't see what was happenning. Kitty also didn't die alone. A Couple of neighbors were there trying to help her out, I guess waiting for an Ambulance to come.

the film shows how the Press can lie. That is why writing this in the first few days of March 2022, I am a little sekptical of their Coverage of the Russian Ukraine Situation.

I learned about this story from studying material from my Psychology class today, and what puzzled me more than anything was that a black man murdered her....not to discriminate, but i thought it would have been a white male...or who knows if he really did it...sometimes authorites make u confess to a crime u didnt do...but im still puzzled to know the truth

I saw this documentary in Dallas, Texas. I was not impressed with the Q&A. Unfortunately, I walked out.
