Sometimes you just need some good old vegan chicken nuggets right?

We caved in and made a massive batch of crispy, meaty and delicious nuggets with our new friend @funforlouis!

Seriously these nuggets are no joke, they would fool any meat eater and are perfect alongside some BBQ sauce… YUM!

I’ve found when making vegan chicken out of vital wheat gluten it has a better chicken like texture when it’s not kneaded as much. Kneading it too much can give it a tough “chewy” like texture

My granny used to make this recipe but it was a much longer process. I tried this and I love this way of making it so simple and the texture is similar to my grannies... awesome

to make vegan meat I often use tofu for vegan popcorn chicken recipe, it’s easier and taste really good!!! This recipe looks good too! I would love to try!!! Thanks for sharing it!

I am going to take credit for the apple cider vinegar in the wet mix. I commented on a Facebook video ages ago for a seitan recipe and recommended adding vinegar to seitan to cut the wheaty flavor.

2:16 if you really wanted buttermilk you should have boiled the milk and add lemon when it starts to boil then take off stove, let rest. What you have there is just lemony nut drink. Anyway, I guess it serves its purpose

so, a good mate of mine is celiac so could we use rice flour for the vital wheat gluten and get some King Oyster mushrooms. The dry will be the “breading” and the wet is the olive oil mix that you have. What do you think??

Could I use an air fryer for this? No to keen on the unhealthy Omega 6 fats....Looks amazing though!

There are so many people here who do Not (want to) understand why people try to mimick chicken with plants.

I slowly get the feeling that the misconception is a psychological thing for many people :D

If I believe that vegans just do not like to eat animal products for the taste and just find them stupid for mimicking the taste then, I don't need to think about if there is actual reasons based on facts and logic that also apply for my food choices.

Guys, vegans do not quit animal products because of the taste. Most people like the taste, are used to it, ate animal products for many years before they questiones their behavior.

The reasons for eating less or no animal products are the Problems caused by animal farming.
Mainly animal suffering, environmental destruction and pollution, emissions and issues due to the use of e.g. antibiotics.

And if we can have a comparable taste, or one that makes us enjoy our favorite meals from formerly - why Not? :)
(For substitutes are often not the healthiest thing to eat of course not too often ;))

In south africa we have a wild mushroom called i'kowe it grows in kzn not very easy to find but is the most devine fleshy mushroom you will ever eat! It has a chicken texture but infact better tasting than chicken.i imagaine this recipe using that particular mushroom would be to die for
