1:20 that moment where Tarkin was so Intimidating that she backed into the DARK LORD OF THE SITH (Killer of Children) for protection.

The only reason i dont really like the original explosion is because the pause between the two parts of the explosion. Unlike the 2011 Blu-ray which is super smooth.

1:11 Alderaan is in the center of the viewscreen in the Special Editon and Harmy's but off center in the original version.

Adam West: She said no. Should we still do it?
Darth Vader: Yeah!

2:05 I think the guys standing there are kind of a jab at the US government having soldiers being near nuke testing sites before the effects were known.

Wow, when silver screen release its version and you notice even the gout has some alterations.

...Ok.  Original effect is good, but I have to say the updated version from 2011 works better.

The explosion should have been slow like Jedha and Scarif instead of just blowing up instantly, I know when it fired on Jedha and Scarif it was on low power, but still...

GOUT is consistently my favourite for colours, always looking the most natural and appealing. Despecialized always looks like it has a modern urine-yellow filter (the way so many movies are now graded).

I’m going to say it right now,

I have always preferred the Special Edition Star Wars’s.

Grand Moff Tarkin is an autocrat. Peter Cushing acted in the 1970 vampire film The Vampire Lovers.

If we don't talk about the explosion itself, but about sth else. I don't know if some of you recognised that in the original version, at least on VHS, we can hear loud Leia's scream when her planet explodes. Here, we can barely hear it. I presume it was silenced a little bit, even on Despecialized version. Too bad, because it added goosepumps dramatically when I was a kid and it still could. That's why in the next shot, Obi-Wan says Luke that he heard almost thousands of voices screaming and suddenly silenced. It fit over there perfectly then. Now it's polished unfortunately and there is no echo of that so clearly exposed.

Why is the GOUT version different coloured to Harmy's if the Gout is Unaltered? Wouldn't the Gout be the theatrical colouring?

I always thought the death star war gray not bluish gray.

I'm not sure which version is the original, but the one labeled "TN1'S Silver Screen Edition" is BY FAR my favorite.

I love the detail on the Death Star (all the little lights making it look like an actual operational space station), and I love the glittery, muted effect of the explosion.

The 2011 SE is by far the worst. That explosion looks like it belongs in a Michael Bay movie. 🤢

The ring was a cool addition, but my question is why didn’t they use rings in the sequels? If you’re going to blow up planets at least try to make them consistent with previous explosions.

In star wars, the WHY of destroying a whole planet always confused me. It only has shock value it is a horribly inefficient way to take out enemies on a planet and destroys everything of value on it. Orbital bombardment of cities ought to be enough for most purposes and there are better faster more efficient ways to take out every living thing on a world. The biosphere, the outer layer with water, atmosphere and living ecosystems is much much smaller than the whole planet and it can be taken out easily via orbital bombardment, you don't even need cannon, you just need to drop an object big enough from space, something somewhat larger than the Chicxulub impactor (which took out the dinosaurs) at 7-50 miles wide would do it. This would kill all your enemies and leave you with an empty planet you could terraform for your allies (on Corellia?) at a later date. "Cracking the mantle" would be another method as it would likely destroy the atmosphere.

Theory" Hux hated Kylo Ren because he knew this and pointed out every time he asked for resources for his pet project "Starkiller Base." BWT Hilter LOVER big weapons that were pointless, he once built a HUGE artillery gun that could shell London from occupied France, it never got to fire anything because as it was too big to move and easy to spot it was bombed, would have been smarter to just build more planes. This might be why writers always have Space-Nazi's building stupid huge weapons instead of just more star destroyers, we should be grateful for stupid bad guys.
