IS IKEA CUTTING CORNERS? Old vs New Floating Wall Shelf Comparison

In today's furniture review video, we will be comparing the old lack wall shelf with the "new" lack wall shelf. This IKEA floating shelf could be a good addition to your living space if you want some extra storage for your small personal items or books. My brother had the old lack floating shelf for about 8 years and he was happy with it, but all those years did come with some wear and tear. One of the problems I noticed with the "new" lack wall shelf is that it's less sturdy than the old one. The older bracket seemed to be designed better than the new one. Another minor problem I noticed was with the gap in between the shelf and the wall.This could be due to an uneven wall or just a lack of support. One of the good things about the lack wall shelf is that it is pretty easy to install. If you don't like the white stained oak effect, then you also have the option of choosing between black-brown and white. In my opinion, I liked the older bracket and the new style of the lack shelf better. If IKEA just put these two things together, then honestly it would have been a way better floating shelf.

IKEA want to keep their prices down so unfortunately their quality is getting worse and worse over the years on a lot of items. You have to be very careful in choosing their products nowadays compared to in the past. I have worked at IKEA twice since 2009 and have been shopping their since the early 90's so I have seen it with my own eyes.

I've installed both. I installed on wood beams and I've noticed the older ones just sag a bit more, but the new ones have a shorter arm that limits the ability to find a good beam to drill in to. I wish they made a Lack support bracket with the rigidity and length of the old L bracket with the convenience and tight connection of the pronged bracket.

I was wondering if a front to back wobble is normal, I guess so. They were easy to level side to side, but the front to back pitch is disappointing.
