I have a 2014 jeep compass with 188000 kms on it and runs great !! I have done periodical maintenance’s like suspension and brake repairs which is common for all the vehicles. The best advise is to do the regular oil services and replace the spark plugs when it’s due (the user manual has the exact periods on when to do the maintenances). The only extra stuff I had to do is to replace the electronic throttle control and the alternator which is not that expensive. If you take care of her she runs great and is a beast in the northern Ontario weather. And please be nice to her, just because it’s a 4*4 don’t make her work too hard 😂.. I love my Jeep!!

Thanks to 1A Auto for this video. Great information.

I've had zero issues with my 14 2.0 manual transmission. 170, 000km runs perfectly did rims and a nice rice muffler Lucas oil and it pulls my camper through the mountains like a mule I love this car it rips😎

manufacturers should be held accountable for rusting undercarriage components. The body does not rust. why the hell do they not protect undercarriage parts from rusting?

1A made my life so much easier in prioritizing the repairs. My local auto school provided labor and diagnostics. That helped a great deal.

I bought a 2009 Caliber. After thirteen years it is still going strong. Never had an issue with the tranny or engine. Only had to replace the throttle body. My father in law inherited it.

Wow! 1A Auto, thanks for those 5 problems on the first generation of Jeep compass 2007-17. I asked and you guys came through, I have a 2011, I did have the struts go bad on the driver side that was replaced. 4 years ago I had to change the electronic throttle pedal that when bad, now this year 2021 the water pump was leaking and replaced, the vehicle only have 77, 000 miles well maintained. Hopefully things doesn't get any worse but the electronic problem underneath the driver side wheelwell that you pointed out got me worried. The quality of vehicles made these days are not like they used to be like back then, they used to care about making a good quality vehicle.

One thing you might want to mention is with leaks in the roof, on either side in the front corners of the sun roof are drains. It has a small tube that goes down through the A pillar and exits behind the front wheel wells. These tubes can get blocked from dirt, dust, and such. If they get blocked the water can back up and will leak down through the ceiling liner. Mine leaked right by the center courtesy light, and would drip down on the shifter.

Yea that relay box was causing my car to stall in middle of the road while turning. Almost drove off a cliff. Good one jeep, you got me there! I guess I'll be soldering wire under my jeep for the weekend.

I had a 2011 limited UK Spec 2.1 Mercededs Diesel. 104000 miles when I replaced it with no problems except the water pump which failed at 85000. It's expensive linked with powersteering pump and not an easy job to do. I replaced the 2011 model after 4 years with a MY 14 and the same UK spec diesel engine 5 years ago. Now with 92000 miles no problems except for the same waterpump failure at around the same miles an annoying squeak from the rear suspension, and am now about to replace a rear wheel bearing due to noise . I 've no real complaints with the Compass except for the expensive water pump, it has good towing and off road capability, and returns around 41/42 MPG in daily use, The interior and body work finish is good, reliablity is excellent and servicing costs reasobable. A good vehicle for the money and even better value now they are getting older,

You were spot on . I would never but a jeep other than a willys . My brother in law did and even with a Warranty it still cost 1300 dollars to replace the relay box . I had a 86 Chevy pickup for 30 years with a 464 big block .

My daughter’s 2012 Jeep Compass Sport has the check engine light on. The diagnostic on it is saying it’s the crankshaft sensor that needs to be replaced as her Jeep stalls out while she’s driving it! Finally found a shop that is qualified to fix it & hoping that it’s not going to be too hard to repair 🙏🏽🤞🏽Thanks for the vid!

I have a 2014 Jeep Compass. I got it at 30k miles and am going at 88k right now. So far I have had to replace standard time things like a headlight bulb and ac. Recently I replaced a ball joint. The only real issue I have is this noise when I break going over a speed bump or turning a corner, like a squeek but my breaks are fine. I live in Florida and to maintain it I wash it 1 a month.

I own a 2007 Compass, living in Canada and rough roads the story can be different. I noticed a lot of rust EVERYWHERE, especially around the rear wheel wells and subframe, I tried replacing my sway bar bushings, I snapped the first bolt I touched. Not only that but the suspension system is not the greatest, I must have replaced every arm and linkage.

Surprised you didn’t mention front lower ball joints that only last at best 50, 000kms.

Notice how they didn’t say “these are great cars” and “all cars have their problems.”
