Uk soil has generally a ph value of between 4 and 8 ...in other words it is quite acidic ....if you leave mud on leather for too long....leather won't like it. If I use my Haix winter boots a lot off tarmac I will always wash down the mud off my boots after a long hike/yomp. You can apply the wax when the boots are gently damp or dry. It is important not to apply too heavily per round of waxing as it can overload the leather not allowing it too breathe leather is animal breathes. apply lightly all be afraid to use a toothbrush in the seams ....Another very important thing is to allow the leather to dry in gentle heat and not too close to a heat source such as beside a radiator...this can cause forced cracking in the leather. (never using wax/cream/dubbin etc will also cause cracking particularly if you use leather boots in hot sun conditions). look after your it will look after you. Make sure your heel always sits tight into the boot heel and no slipping....this will help prevent creasing around the front of the boot. If your foot slips inside a boot a little ....consider alternate lace tie methods (incorporating surgeons knot etc) + you can wear an inner boot sock within a full ankle sock. If doing high mileage. Take your boots off for twenty minutes to allow feet to breathe/prevent swelling. Hope this helps. ....oh and don't use neapsfoot oil on leather unless you want leather to become very supple...Grangers is one of the best wax/bee balms I've found. I prefer it to leather creams/conditioners.

Just bought an "Outdoors Footwear clean & reproof kit" from GO. It contains both the "Repel" spray and this waterproofing wax. Should I use both, and if so, in what sequence?

Can you apply polish on top of the wax?

Hi I used the g wax on my leather boots but no matter how thin the wax coat I applied on the boots was, there was a yellowish and waxy crust on the boots' flex points. Could you give me some advice on how to get rid of this problem? Thanks.

It's a shame it contains naphtha (petroleum). Rather misleading marketing with "NATURAL BEESWAX" on the top of the tin. "May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways" is also left off the tin. Rather important information to know before purchasing.

Nice video. Very informative. But please help me; I can't get a shine on my leather work boots to save my soul. I'v tried everything known to man and experimented with every technique and medium for years, right out of the box boots and old boots. Is it me or is it the leather? It's almost as if the supple leather is too porous and the wax or polishing oils never completely dry. I generally wear Red Wings, Carolina's, and ThouroughGood's. When I was a kid in the 70's and 80's, they would always shine up to a mirror finish. Your help would be greatly appreciated

Hi. I purchased a pair of Brown Brasher Mens Country Master walking boots. Absoloutly love them. I was polishing them with transparent bitumen until a certain person told me to put leg oil on them. I can see it wrecked the waterproof layer on the boot and it really softened it up. I'm very dissapointed about it. Is there any way to fix the problem? What could you recommend me to do? Thanks a lot, Paul
