About this video lesson:
There are two types of mindsets we can cultivate. One that embraces problems as opportunities to learn, and one that avoids them, often out of fear to fail. People that avoid conflicts can be described as having a fixed mindset. Those who see problems as interesting challenges have a growth mindset. Sometimes we like to switch from one to the other. #learn #mindset

Fixed mindsets are a survival method for people who's parents/guardians are quick to punish for even small things like mistakes and accidents or even punish when they fail the first time trying something. It's not a healthy mindset, but in those environments it's what's needed to avoid pain

I feel like the "fear of being laughed at" is more significant than this video suggests

I used to have a growth mindset... After I started college I acquired a fixed mindset and now I'm trying to recover my previous one :/

I have spent my entire adult life (and sooo much time in therapy) getting over the fixed mindset I had growing up. My fixed mindset made me see my failures as failures of my whole self, success was because I had talent no one else had, and wrecked havoc on my self-esteem. Now, life is a learning opportunity and I work to live with a growth mindset everyday. It's hard but a change is possible!

Selfawareness is a good step from moving from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset.

To me, a growth mindset was closely linked with learning to disregard others' opinions. I used to be so afraid of being unlikeable, unsuccessful that I avoided areas in which I wasn't sure I'd be talented. There were things I didn't try because "everyone" "knew" that they were hopeless or useless, and I was afraid of seeming arrogant by trying to prove them wrong. I had things I "knew" I was "good at"--mostly told to me by others--that I never even considered I might not be good at them, that I could improve at them, or that I might also be good or better at other things. Once I started seriously considering what *I* wanted and decided to seriously pursue it, I realized I was extremely capable in a variety of areas, and I could readily accomplish all my life goals. Once you convince yourself there is a way, the way becomes apparent.

Love how the comment section is a positive space for encouragement, uplifting and support towards each other :) It inspires me that there is an optimistic space in the internet where people help and motivate each other out to learn and grow :) The channel itself is happy to educate others to see life in a better perspective :) Thank you so much for this channel and your contents. The list and a more concrete explanation of a fixed and growth mindset even made me more aware to things I need to work on. Thank you so much 😊☺️

At 50 years old, I’ve spent the past few years teaching myself to transform my old fear-based fixed mindset into an optimistic, empowering growth mindset, because I believe it will help me reach the potential I feel within. So far, so good.

I turned 60 this year and it took me most of those years to realise that a growth mindset hasn't benefited me once in my life. I avoid failure by avoiding doing thing I might fail at. Has served me well.

I need to embrace the growth mindset. I used to live by it, then some difficulties arose... I let fear and doubt take over, avoided risks for a long time. Thank you for this video, I feel encouraged to grow again!
