I am 57 and I have had a naturally optimistic viewpoint my whole life. However, I realized that over time I had developed a fixed mindset about myself in some areas. I learned how to shuffle cards by watching people do it, picking up a deck and trying to imitate them. Took me days to do it swiftly and effieciently, and I dropped the cards on the floor hundreds of times. Now I RARELY drop them, and I think back on that simple little task to motivate me with whatever more difficult thing I'm trying to learn. When I fuck up, I think about the pile of cards on the floor and then I pick them back up.

I came across this during a work thing and I realized, I believe I have a fixed mindset for some things but a growth mindset for others. For example in regards to work I've realized I have a fixed mindset but I've been learning new skills (not related to work) and I do approach them with a growth mindset. It's very interesting to see that they clarify this is very possible.
