This one comes very close. Generations has the epitome of the boost formula with gameplay but is very lacking in terms of story/character. While Frontiers has a lot of passion put into the characters direction, interactions and development with a new style for gameplay on the open world. They're sort of like Yin and Yang making up for the other's weaknesses. Generations sadly I would put above for the fun of all the stages despite me loving Frontiers story.

Frontiers feel like a complete package that isn't as polished, meanwhile, Generations feels like a good polished demo(good gameplay but lackluster content, length and storyline). Overall I think Frontiers is still the better game.

If you think about the modding community on Generations as well, gens is the cherry on top of the cake and enjoy it abit more then Frontiers when’s there’s the unleashed project or you can play through old sonic game stages

In as much as I love Sonic frontiers as Sonic Generations still remains my favorite game, it's just Undefeatable in my opinion
