The best 8 minutes I've spent to improve my skiing. I've done the exercises in this video, and they have worked better than anything before. I can now carve!

I am a trainer in a completely different field and I have to credit Kurt for his briefing technique. A really well balanced tone, not condescending or patronising, an open style leaving room for questions or confidence building input. He follows an important rule in working to his trainees needs and starting from where the trainee is. Too many of these types of video are about the trainer. "Look how good I am this could be you!" In this one you actually believe it could! Now let's see if I can do any of this stuff.

Anyone else come back to this video before going out to ski?

These three issues have been holding me back for a decade. Thank you!

“Have a lunch.” That’s a new one. Known here in Canada as a “yard sale.” Your gear spread accross the area for other skiers to browse through. That’s me. But no more, I’ve been shown the light! Thanks guys.

If I understood correctly, following wording may be simpler to understand:
Tip 1: Point your both hands towards the downhill instead of your moving direction (this helps to keep your upper body in correct orientation).
Tip 2: Always keep you upper body pointing upwards instead of leaning inside the corner. Leaning only your legs increases the grip.
Tip 3: Keep the tips of the skis next to each other during the turn (it's a common mistake is to push inside ski forward compared to outside ski).

Tip 4: the inside arm should always be in front of you. Never leave it behind or drag it behind.
Tip 0: find the best snow possible. Well groomed. Then you’ll have 35% of carving done

Delightful to watch them carving so easily.

Great video very helpful for an intermediate skier like me who has taught himself and who probably has all the obstacles to skiing effortlessly that have been clearly pointed out and demonstrated in the video thanks will get practicing whenever I can.

Thanks guys. Just started skiing again after a 35 year hiatus. I have all of the issues you mentioned. I'm heading back out tomorrow and I will pay attention to everything you showed in the video. Great video!

Such nice, calm and well-presented ski instructions. Oh, seems most people were too busy checking the ski gear to learn anything.. I did tho! Thank you.

Thank you for your videos! I am going for my PSIA level 2 exam next week and have had nothing but useless jargon forced into my head, the way you describe things is REAL and applicable, you are a god send. THANK YOU

This was really helpful. Have been skiing for a long time. I can get down the mountain but it ain't pretty due to my lack of proper technique. Thanks for the tips. Will study this.

Excellent video with some great exercises. I would only suggest that you also emphasize the importance of FLEXING YOUR KNEES in your turns, which you always demonstrate but never mention. Thanks.

if you just straight line it you don't need to worry about how bad your carving is

Looking forward to skiing again, hopefully on my own set.

I saw this video 2 months ago, after 1.5 years from my last ride, and forgot about it. Now, after 3 days of skiing, I recognize I'm doing all three mistakes. Plus, this is clarifying me why these are mistakes indeed. That's just awesome!

My coach taught us to keep our shoulders pointing downhill to keep us from turning with the turn. We also tried to keep out shoulders parallel with the ground, which prevented us from falling into the turn.

This is great, as someone learning by themselves these are some great tips to have.
