Palicoes can kill monsters with blast procs! I just tested and confirmed this myself, just give him the raging bracy weapon and wait afk for profit :)

To be fair, this still has use. You could start the hunt, go make breakfast, eat, come back and land a slinger stone for a free kill

Palicoes in the old games are badasses. I had my palico kill an Azure Rathalos in 4U, and in GU they broke Shagaru Magala’s horns. Not to mention all the crazy support abilities they had, like tracking the monster for you, keeping you alive with health horns and Purrtuoso, spamming traps, restraining the monster with a Flying Bomb, and buffing your attack and defense, among many other things that would take too long to list.

Well, maybe this will be possible in Rise. My Palico and Palamute got plenty of killing blows during the demo.

Currently making this build.
Using wide range talisman and the alpha head is slightly more efficient (especially for guard up). If the gun is also augmented for an additional lvl 1 slot there should be enough space for herocis 6.
Alternatively you could use heroics 3 and skip slot augments completely or add some damage skills.

3 years later, and I will be trying this build as soon as I get home from work. I'm also incredibly curious if your palico just couldn't kill it until you did damage to it. Cause I swear mine has gotten kills before while I was reloading my bowgun.

This still works on non elder dragons if later in the hunt you switch to palico traps. They can't kill monsters for you but can trap them. Happened for me, I was going back to camp to get another trap and my palico did it for me . Also if a monster has 1hp apparently a vespoid can kill as well. That happened for me too during a paolumo hunt.
