Controlled folder access is a great option in Windows Defender. Instead of turning it off "Allow an app through Controlled folder access" like add Word, Excel, paint etc. These app then can create or edit files. No other app will able to do it. In this way you safe your computer from viruses and ransomware.

THANK YOU! Man I HATE indicator back to the cause or an offer to approve the application! Note this is now under Ransomware protection and you can add programs to grant access vs turning off the protection. It was blocking a business app I use all day from saving to a synced sever folder. Your fix worked! So much time wasted ...MS does not care
