🌟 Aging: Extrinsic vs. Intrinsic 🌟

🕰️ We all know that aging is inevitable, but did you know it's influenced by both extrinsic and intrinsic factors? 🤔

🌞 Extrinsic Aging Factors:
Sun's Out, Wrinkles Out! ☀️🕶️
UV rays, pollution, and our daily lifestyle choices play a significant role in extrinsic aging. ☀️🚬 These external factors can lead to premature aging, causing fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone. But fear not! Sunscreen, antioxidants, and a healthy lifestyle can be your secret weapons against these pesky culprits! 🌿💧

💧 Intrinsic Aging Factors:
Age is Just a Number! 📆🎂
Intrinsic aging is the natural aging process that occurs over time. 🕰️🧬 It's influenced by our genes and hormonal changes. As we age, our skin naturally loses collagen and elastin, leading to a decrease in skin elasticity and hydration. 🧖‍♀️💧 While we can't change our genetics, we can certainly support our skin's health through skincare routines, hydration, and a balanced diet. 🍏✨

So, what's the verdict? 💬 Both extrinsic and intrinsic factors play a role in the aging game. 🔄 But the good news is that with the right habits and self-care, we can age gracefully and confidently! 🌟🙌

Thank you! Inkeep telling everyone that fancy products for anti-aging won’t work unless they also use sunscreen.

As a 60 year old Retired Licensed Esthetician, I’ve lived this and proved every word she’s speaking to be true! I look 40 😊 Sunscreen, Not ever smoking and Genetics! My face is proof! (My sister who smokes 2 packs a day & who still goes to tanning beds and refuse’s sunscreen? We look 25 years apart. We’re 4.

IT’s SCIENCE Y’all!

I haven't aged one bit I'm getting close to my 40s no wrinkles or anything I don't drink, don't smoke or pop no pills, no drugs, I just detox and I'm working on my weight & I'm only doing 3-4 steps for my skin I'm definitely not doing all that stuff as a bw, I'm kid free also (I'm going back natural to vitamins, dying my hair blk )

I would give anything to find an affordable, vegan, cruelty-free sunscreen that doesn’t break me out. Every time I put sunscreen on my face I get big, painful pimples. I always thought it was the salicylates since I always break out if I use something with salicylic acid or willow bark extract, but I didn’t see any salicylates in the COTZ sensitive formula and my skin still exploded. I mentioned this to the last derm I saw and his solution was to not use sunscreen since I “didn’t really need it” due to having melanated skin 😮🙄😡.

I wonder why sunscreen products are more shown during the summertime instead of all year round?

Ugh I honestly dislike using sunscreen. The greasy after feel is annoying. But I'll definitely prioritize it more.

Are there any studies where they calculated that 80-90%? There are quite some studies that mention this number, but they just mention it as a fact, without any actual measurement or calculation, or reference to a study that did. I did find 1 study by Flament which says 18 of the 22 clinical signs of facial aging were influenced to varying degrees (!) by uv exposure. 18 out of 22, is about 80% of the clinical signs, so maybe thats where the number comes from? But those 18 signs were influenced to varying degrees by UV, so its unlikely that results on average in 80-90%, its also not the best study. So besides that single study, are there any others? So many derms mention these numbers, but Im just curious where these numbers are coming from.

I know people say it’s accurate and all but. Both my parents have been mistaken for looking 2 decades younger than their age so I’m all good honestly. And I never touch the sun🫶🏽
