grip strength is a predictor of longevity because it often results from things like an active lifestyle and exercise. just training grip strength isn't gonna do much for your longevity

grip strength doesn't make you live longer, people who are strong and healthy live longer and they also have a stronger grip.

Just because grip strength predicts longevity, doesn't mean it causes longevity. It's just an easy measurement for researchers, it is meant to be a proxy for strength in general.

How do you know correlation =/= causation in this case? I would imagine the RESULT of getting a strong grip is just a side effect of training which in itself is probably what's causing longevity. Wonder what you think about that.

This grip thing is amazing, since I have been using it, just a few reps every now and again whilst watching tv or something, everything has improved, gym, pull ups etc, and it is so cheap, highly recommend this, as well as most of the things Bryan Johnson recommends

OVERALL strength is a predictor of longevity and the quickest way to measure it is via grip strength. Grip strength specifically isn't a predictor in and of itself. I feel that a deadlift is a better measure of overall body strength.

As a student physiotherapist I’d like to comment that grip strength could be correlated with longevity as people are less likely to fall if they have good grip strength. For sure will help you to prevent injury in your hands and forearm (no injury = no stress, no stress = longevity).
