The MLM Where Reps Pretend They're Psychologists | Oolalife

I recently found out that there is a new MLM launching soon called Oolalife. After I looked into Oolalife, I realized that it’s probably one of the worst, and potentially most harmful, MLMs to launch in the last couple years. Their product is an interactive self-help/personal development course (ahem … it reminds me a lot of NXIVM).

Many of those signed up for the MLM opportunity are those who already work as “life coaches” with Oola, and the founders of the MLM are already suggesting that Oola can help people with “mental health problems”. So, in my opinion, they’re building an MLM model where the up-lines play a pseudo-psychologist role to their downlines.

The MLM is also based on a best-selling book by Troy Amdahl and Dave Braun (who are … chiropractors) called Oola: Finding Balance in an Unbalanced World. The book is incredibly disappointing. Just like many books in the self-help genre, they focus on things like mindset and motivation, and heavily use tired cliches and generalizations.

The idea that he thought he couldn’t find a “virgin” in their mid-twenties says more about him than it does about women.

Normally I hate seeing MLM ads and was about to click “skip ad” when I remembered that they are literally paying you to warn people away from their industry 😂

I can’t be the only one that sees “life coach” and hears “rent a friend”

What makes me so sad about this Oola scheme and other self help gurus is that they're targeting real actual issues people are struggling with. Then offer a solution which doesn't actually help.

Thoughts throughout this vid:
1. The origin of the name Ahahahahah yeah just pathetic
2. Of course they are chiropractors.
3. I have never heard of being addicted to self help books, I'm already invested on figuring out everything about it, such an interesting topic.
Thank u for the awesome vid:)

I'm still stuck on the guy's statement that he was going to promise to be *celibate* if God got him a woman. LOL

So this dude said let's take the whole self improvement, positive mindset, personal development and toxic positivity crap that is usually part of all MLMs and turn that into the product itself? Gotta say it, that's brilliant LOL 🤣🤣. This is about as cult-y and pyramid scheme-y as it gets 😂

I'm really disappointed that 1 of the 7 F's wasn't "Fucking." Can't be successful if you can't lay it down.

Oola used to collaborate with Young Living and even came up with those 7 oil blends that start with the letter F. I actually bought one essential oil blend 'Family' out of curiosity.

First off I wanna thank you for posting this video. Second I’m gonna have to watch this one over again and I just reflect a little bit. The structure you’re describing is fairly similar to the gnostic cult I was involved in for 16 years. Specifically in terms of the self-help aspect, trying to purify perfect yourself, to this unattainable undefined goal. The shame, guilt and false pride (because we thought we were evolving/awakening consciousness) sounds very much like this MLM. There was in the cult, explicit and implicit expectations of allowed behavior, thoughts and emotions. And of course God was watching and evaluating you constantly. The threat of what failure meant for our salvation was very much part of the doctrine. And as you “progressed” any of the most minor of infractions could damn your soul forever. All this pressure was couched as loving and for our own good. And there were different levels for the advanced groups within each church run by faith leaders rather than people taught in psychology or even as pastors/clergy. Leaders were just people who believed enough and were well versed in the doctrine.

I also hadn’t really considered how the self-help industry might contribute to that cycle of shame in oneself.

Again thanks for posting this. It gives me something to reflect on. Cheers

Hi there, I'm a creepy self important narcissist(redundant) which is why I have an overwhelming need to constantly inform everyone about how humbled I am. I know that doesn't make any sense whatsoever, but it's okay because religion. If I'm being honest, which I never am, everything I say is flowery word salad.

Blessed are the chiropractors, for theirs is the Dunning-Kruger effect.

Two Chiropractors, I wouldn't let them "Help" my bad back and I would never take "Life Advice" from them either.

Hmmmm. He makes a laundry list of qualities of your perfect woman. Not a perfect himself. He hears voices. Yeah, that sounds like someone who has really got his sh&t together and is ready to help other people out. NOT!
