“Neither grip is incorrect”…

I love this. So refreshing to hear someone not telling you something is wrong!!!!

I think, you should've also mentioned how the Hendrix grip lends itself to bending and vibrato. Especially, when you combine the two, where you add vibrato on the top end of your bend. That extra leverage the thumb gives you comes in really handy.

I love the differences in YouTube guitar teachers. 😂😂

I initially squeezed the neck way too hard because my first guitar had ridiculously high action and heavy strings. Took me a while to get out of that habit. I think a lot of beginners may relate

I only squeeze the shit out of the neck to speedrun my callouses. On a real note, that last tip is dope, it's gonna level up my bends.

Reason for mistake #1 buzzing. We observe that notes buzz when we don't hold down the strings hard enough, that's why we don't hold it down "just enough" for it to ring out, because we have to hold down hard.

Mistake 4 only learning the beginning of a song and then moving on to a different one.

Regarding 1: My first guitar was 150€ and strings were trash. Nobody told me how important it is to use the softest ones. Contrary to that, my teacher told me to use the hardest ones "so I can move on to acoustic without a problem if I wanted to", so it was really detrimental to my learning.

Guys, if you're just starting, but the softest strings they'll sell you and make sure you learn technique before moving on to harder ones.

I (a professional beginner) squeeze the shit out of the neck because I never know how much pressure to apply, it always feels like too little or too much

I squeeze the everloving shit out of my guitar neck because its an acoustic and it makes zero noise unless I literally choke my guitar

You gotta remember when we were beginners sometimes it would take a crazy amount of pressure to get a somewhat good sound or transitioning from acoustic to electric.

It finally clicks how people can reach so far with their pinky’s. Can’t wait to practice this when I put down the cigs

The Hendrix grip is also good for blues-style leads from my experience

Also check out the action/string height on your neck. Might help you with not 'squeezing the shit out of the neck'. You don't want buzz but you don't want 3cm of travel on each press either. I'd advise getting a professional to take a look/asking for advice if it's your first time fine-tuning.

This young man is going to have stress overload. It’s alright to smile buddy. The guitar is supposed to be fun. However, he is an amazing musician.

When you don’t have the calluses you have to press harder I’ve taken year breaks and always noticed it
