Video #10 - As we discussed in our previous video "Introduction to Rough Grading", we learned that during the early stages of the site development/grading your job will either be an "export", "import", or "balanced" site in regards to the dirt. See links below to study up on if you haven't already:
In this video we will discuss some HUGE benefits that you can take advantage of if you have an "import" project!

These videos are great! Extremely educational and thank you for posting. It looks to me as the import hole that you are filling is actually in the lot pads correct? I also thought I heard mention of spoils being used as the fill dirt? My question is, that being the the import hole is actually going to be buildable lots would it not need to be filled with good clay and compacted for the future home sites versus filled with spoils?

Hello! How can you manage to dig a disposal hole that has as specific a volume? I mean, can those excavators precisely do the job so that you can ensure this disposal hole actually is 3, 300 CY? How can you measure it? Thanks.

Wouldn't it be possible to simply move your proposed grade up or down a few feet (or even inches) in order to completely fill the hole- or level some part of the site differently to get closer to 0 cubic yards? I am not experienced so am guessing that this isn't possible due to particular ordinances or requirements of each project or perhaps the required slope of the sewer connection? Does anyone know?

Start looking around see who move dirt for free like landscape company or guy with truck plants something thinking leveling his back yard. Know your areas smaller trades

Moral of story leave yourself so wiggle room this away or that way. Antispate problem. A problem isn't a problem till it's problem. I an expensive way think. It makes sense to build backwards in your mind. Your job is find and solve problem
