I was laid off at the beginning of the pandemic, but during this time I earned a certification to seek a better paying job. It's annoying though that I have to explain why I was staying home after being laid off due to the Covid-19 pandemic, then taking advantage of the time off to go back to school and gain a new skill set. I feel like it should be self-explanatory. "You might've heard on the news that there was this deadly virus going around, the economy slowed down, a bunch of businesses went out of business and lot of people lost their jobs, (which by the way they probably didn't like that much to begin with.) It was called the Covid19 pandemic. Well, I was in it. Anyway, before I applied for this job I was busy learning the skills that are necessary to do it and that took me a few months because, you know, I have to sleep and eat and stuff and things don't fix themselves around the house so yeah..."

Hi, Everyone except you (and inner voice of me) is telling me not to write gap on the resume. Can you give me the recommendation where exactly we should put this note or lines in the resume? Thanks for the advice!!! I have problems getting jobs because of this, trying to secure work after taking care of sick mom who did eventually pass. I also had one job that I left after 9 months because my hours were cut and couldn't afford to work there. What do you do when that is also included in your gaps???
