With Sega’s acquisition of Rovio Entertainment who developed the Angry Birds franchise coming nearer to completion I wanted to discuss why Sega wanted such a studio and such a franchise when they already control the icon Sonic The Hedgehog

I think Sega will take advantage of the nostalgia driven Angry Birds fan base and put the older games in some kind of collection for consoles and PCs kind of like the trilogy they did a while back. Then they’ll probably make more mobile games and make more Angry Birds games in the style of the older ones. Maybe they’ll even say something at Gamescom about it and talk about to more at the Tokyo Games Show.
