Note: OneNote is very buggy at the moment.

Appreciate a review by a person who actually used these apps. Most of the reviews out there just re-iterate the features found on the app's descriptions. For example, I've seen very few reviews mention infinite canvas in onenote.
Great video!

I love the objectiveness of this comparison. You did not come across as biased towards either software and refused to just give a point when you weren’t certain which did a feature better. Very helpful and honest. I would personally like to see an updated comparison at the beginning of 2021 to highlight any updates

All the best!

I like that Onenote is available on so many platforms - whether on my PC, my Note 9 or my iPad...or on a web browser in an internet cafe, I can access Onenote and its content. It's hard to go past that.
BTW, have you ever considered a career in ASMR?

Great comparison. I would disagree with you though on file management. The Onenote layout allows you to transition from note to note almost instantaneously and with sub pages it allows for organization 4 layers deep. That’s plenty for me. I find that having to drill down through folder after folder to get to a different note to be a pain. For someone who is constantly switching from note to note I much prefer Onenote.

onenote actually has a lot of page color options when you use it on a windows 10 tablet. I currently use a grey page color with light blue lines. As far as page sizes go, you can choose the page size if you go to print options and then save it as a pdf which you can then send to other people

OneNote is free, cross platform, and it has good integration with other office apps/files. What I love with GoodNotes is the PDF annotations and you could have multiple windows opened on iPad. I might not agree with your point system on the pros but this is a good comparison…

This is just an invaluable valuation and comparisons of the two note-taking software. You are extremely thorough and cover all the pros and cons of the two sets of software.

great comparison. I'd like to see a comparison between the cloud services such as onedrive and dropbox

I’m not done watching the video, but as a owner of both, I’ve found that goodnotes’s ability to have tabs within the app that let you access 2 or more documents at once a must. You can have tabs or you can do split screen. Amazing when annotating a page of a textbook while taking notes on it.

Hi again, with reference to 18:22 of the video. You can open files as pdf printouts on OneNote, which then makes them printouts. The point of being able to add them as a thumbnail to the file is to make an interactive notebook where you could access other files or documents from the page. However if you want to have it as something to anotate, you just open it as a pdf printout.

I'm using OneNote cause I use multiple PCs, Android phone & iPad Mini and so far I'm loving the convenience for my work as an engineer! So far below are the points of using OneNote that annoys me:

1. Latest version of OneNote do note have the function to export as docs/PDF/notebook so I have to use the OneNote 2016 on Windows PC to use this function. The nature of OneNote of continuous pages makes it difficult to have notes that separate at the right pages without being cut partially without trial and error OR copy and paste manually on word (for handwritten notes will be paste as image so I need to disable darkmode)
2. The export feature is a way for me to share a specific notebook/section/page with colleagues or for physical print, the latest OneNote app only allows for sharing via link which is only for the entire notebook. To get around this without using OneNote 2016 is to create a separate notebook and copy what I want to share before sharing the link.
3. Unlike MS word, tab or indentation doesn't work OneNote so its a pain to not have 2 images align in a horizontal row in the same text box or table.
4. If only PDF books can be imported and view like a PDF reader instead of making every page as an image (my god the loading process takes forever!)

Despite that, OneNote is my best friend in keeping my work notes organised and seamless across different platforms!

I use both One NOte and Good Notes. As well as Notability. Each have some features that the others don’t and make it worth it to keep stuff in 3 apps, although sometimes I forget which subject is where. Onenote is excellent because it sincs to my deskpo Mac so when I am at home I can write and edit previous notes ion a proper keyboard and use the iPad fot to visualize other documents while I am woring on my notes. Goodnotes is excellent as a pdf annotator and to add pages and notes to the pdfs. Notability is great when I am taking notes and recording a lecture. And as far as being organised goes, Onenote’s system is the easiest and to use, I reckon.
Ropsie, thank you sooo much for your excellent videos. Keep it up, please! May the universe reward you with a brilliant career and life for all this. :)

THANK YOU! I recently bought an Ipad for my online classes and couldn't decide which app to download. I didn't want to spend money on goodnotes just because. You helped me SO much to find the best fit for me.

I think I will buy goodnotes, because I need to use the app as both a note taking app AND a pdf reader. Since I already bought the Ipad new, it's not so bad to have to spend 8 extra dollars for a great app and goodnotes seems so much more approachable and workable. Besides, I won't be taking typed notes, so that part isn't that bad. Again _thank you so much_.

I used both...Goodnotes is much more handy and it offers more flexibility....yet... it still lacks some pretty essential tools like... tables....availability across different platforms....though... I am currently restricting my note taking activity to good onenote for daily journaling due to its cross-platform availability....

I love how detailed your comparison is. It helped me decide better. Went with on note because it's free

With a surface device /windows 2-in-1 laptop onenote gets 2 points more because those features are available - e.g: eraser sizes
